The tower of the fortress of Populonia, XV century

Populonia is, originally, an Etruscan village. It was named after the God of wine, Fufluna.

It was build near the ancient Etruscan acropolis, around 300 A.D.

The small medieval village is actually a private property, but it is open to the public, and it hosts several charming restaurants, shops and cafés.

Ich wünsche euch allen nur das Beste im 2023!

Thanks for all the views and likes...

have a beautiful summerweekend...

A late afternoon stroll around Bennachie.

Bennachie is a range of hills in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Though not particularly high, compared to other peaks within Scotland, the mountain is very prominent, owing to its isolation and the relative flatness of the surrounding terrain, and dominates the skyline from several viewpoints.

The Mither Tap beyond is the most prominent although not the highest, the highest being Oxen Craig.

After a moderate three mile hike we arrived at the Lower Calf Creek Falls. This image shows no people but that is not so in reality. The spot is quite popular and we saw even some swimmers who braved the ice-cold water. Dogs loved it too.

The fall is 126 feet high and an impressive sight. We hung out for about an hour and a half before making our way back to camp. We even had the place to ourselves for a ten minute period. Over on the right side out of the frame there was a little trickle of warmer water which was really pleasant to stand in after you waded through the icy pool. I'm not sure what warmed it, It seemed to ooze out of the rock face.
