Happy Fence Friday

I found this explanation, first time ever I use AI text:

"Traditional Swedish fences, known as "gärdsgård" or "skigard", are characterized by their rustic, natural appearance, often built from unbarked spruce or juniper poles. They typically feature upright poles, horizontal or diagonal poles laid between them, and binding cordage made from young saplings. These fences are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional, traditionally used for containing livestock and demarcating property boundaries."

Thursday Doors Day

A last view at the doors of the house I have so happy lived in for the last 6,5 years, 5,5 years with my beloved husband Wout (Walter)!

I have sold our house and last Tuesday I moved to a tiny house at a campsite, for anyway the next half year.

My new appartment, which in first instance I had bought with my husband, will only be ready at the end of next year!

I love aquilegia's a lot!

Today is my mothers birthday. She is long gone though, I'am allready older as she has lived. My mother's favourite flowers were freesia's, but unfortunately I could not get them today. They are oldfashioned and expensive now, but I read they are becoming more and more popular again.

This so called "Wooden Cathedral" is very rich at details. I took this handheld and it could be much better photographed, but I liked to show it to you .

Quick shot before the oak bushes shed all their old leaves and give way to the new growth. They keep the old leaves all winter into early spring. I find them quite attractive in a close up when a ray of light hits them and makes them translucent.

A Greater Green Leafbird sits quietly on a shaded branch, catching a soft beam of light that reveals the rich greens of its feathers. The calm contrast between shadow and glow gives this simple moment a peaceful, almost intimate feel. A gentle reminder of how beautiful and delicate wildlife can be when seen in a quiet pause.

Cradled by gentle green leaves, quietly prepares to unfold its beauty.

The Mexican Hat is a geological feature situated to the north of the small village of - you guessed it - Mexican Hat.

It is visible from quite a distance when you go north on the 163 once you left Monument Valley behind. It formed, like everything else on the Colorado Plateau, by erosion from wind and water.

It was an overcast morning, but I figured I can still make an image.

I thought it looked cool against the differently colored but crumbling cliff side behind it.

My wife and I argued over whether or not it really looks like a Mexican Hat, meaning like a sombrero, and my point was: Ah, close enough.

As the sun retreats behind Mount Serapi, the Sarawak River transforms into a shimmering canvas of gold and deep blue. Silhouetted against the glow, a Pak Tambang rows his traditional wooden boat, a silent custodian of an age-old river culture. The gentle ripples of his passage reflect a heritage that has stood the test of time, linking past and present as the Malay kampung lights begin to flicker along the riverbanks.

Another shot from my archives.

A light snow had fallen overnight and started to melt quickly in the morning sunlight, requiring me to work fast. Crawling around on the ground among the grasses, looking for the right light and backlit water droplets is more like a spray and pray operation than coming up with a methodically thought-out composition. To produce this kind of effect, the lens needs to be wide open, at f1.4 in this case, but the shallow depth of field that goes along with that makes it difficult to come up with something sharp and in focus.

But, as you can see, I had some success.

A visit reflects on the education of bygone days in a recreated 1970s classroom at the Chinese Museum in Kuching, Sarawak. The wooden benches, chalkboard, and nostalgic atmosphere transport us back to a time when learning was simple yet profound.

Ps; This was how my classrooms were in those days.

I got caught up in a blizzard while wandering around Braemar.

Couldn't resist capturing this scene of The Duke of Rothesay Highland Games Pavilion, the site of the world famous Braemar Gathering.

There have been Gatherings of one sort or another at Braemar for over 900 years, but the Braemar Gathering, as we know it, has been running since 1832! As Patron of The Scottish Highland Games Association, The Duke of Rothesay tries to attend the Braemar Gathering every year, alongside Her Majesty The Queen and other members of The Royal Family.

Caught in the act! A nimble squirrel dashes through the thatched roof of a hut, clutching its well-earned prize. With eyes wide in determination, it vanishes into the shadows—nature’s own master thief at work.
