Outside Finnoo station there was a ton of new build and plenty more in development. This was some of the new stuff and it doesn't look terrible.
When my father was in Germany last month he bought me a half dozen recently published Paul Celan books. Given the present state of my reading skills in German, I'll be done with them in, oh, about a quarter century.
Right now, this one looks to be the most interesting. Ilana Shmueli was a childhood friend of Celan's from Czernowitz with whom he reconnected in Paris in 1965 and then again in Israel in 1969. Their correspondence consists of two letters from 1967, one from 1968, and then 127 from October 1969 through April 1970, the last one sent about a week before his suicide.
I'm excited about this book in part because I have a long abandoned translation of Celan's last poems, which were written during the same period (many of them were in fact written for Shmueli). I'm hoping this book will give me a new way to think about those poems and a new way to revise and complete the translation.
thought i would try something a bit different today. we've all seen pieces that dont quite work - outline is too light/dark for the fill colours etc, but i thought if i took it too extremes then it might be quite interesting. i ended up using white for the outline, as the original colour was too close to the fill colours, it didnt really look any different. so here you go - very light fill, very light outline, very light highlights, splash of colour for background doodabs, job done. i expected a total disaster but i actually really like it, going to try a few more super-similar colour schemes in the future.
this one goes out to Dirty D...
My animal loving, nature child is trying horseback riding for the first time at a day camp this week. It wasn't surprising to hear her ask for a horse when I picked her up today, but I had to tell her to get in line--I asked for a goat first. ;)

new model and black and white as a means on making it a better photo than before, I still like my original more (I had better lighting) I had to use a high iso, used the same principal "rule of thirds" but this time obviously my settings were all manual. I used a smaller aperture than before so the sides of her face wouldn't fall out of focus as much as my previous model's, this photo also had basic portraits done unlike my original
Copied the background then made it a smart object, then filter blur motion blur, angle 0 pixels 300 can chose different if want to.then mask layer foreground is black use brush tool with soft edges, opacity at about 40%, then start coloring area a bit but not all like edges of the sides, then make smart object one more time, filter galley and click distort then diffuse glow settings top to bottom 3,12,17 then select hue/saturation and make sure colorized checked.
Something new, done today.
I just realized I'm still trained to use an economy of colours as if there was only a six ink press available to me.
