A grain mill was erected in 1860 on the site of the present Museum Küppersmühle by industrialist Wilhelm Vedder, one of the founding fathers of Duisburg’s Inner Harbour. The mill closed down in 1972.
The conversion of the grain mill into the Küppersmühle Museum was completed in 1999.

Aqueduct of Segovia Spain, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was built around the first century AD to channel water from springs in the mountains 17 kilometres away to the city and was in use until 1973.
At Plaza de Díaz Sanz, it begins to form two monumental rows of arches, one on top of the other. There is no mortar or cement between the 20,400 blocks of stone, which remain standing solidly in a perfect balance of forces. The highest point of the construction is on Plaza del Azoguejo, where it is 28.10 m high, with a total of 167 arches.

The Heliconius Laparus doris butterfly is one of the strongest butterflies in the Amazon region. They can live up to 9 months while neotropical butterflies normally live a couple weeks! This is an extremely long time. They can do this because they are able to digest pollen externally while it's on the proboscis increasing their protein intake.
The Doris is quite colorful and a number of different color morphs... such as green, red and blue. It has an iridescent fan-like color patch on the lower wing, four jagged symmetrical white patterns on the upper wing as well as white dots on the body and wing edges.
