The moon taking away more of the sun as viewed from Kemnay, Aberdeenshire. I would end up seeing the entire 94% maximum coverage before rain stopped play.
Barely visible except as the clouds occasionally thinned. Typically as soon as the transition was over the clouds seem to have cleared !

Today saw a partial solar eclipse in South Wales. This is the shot I took after photoing it ( poor eclipse shots next in photostream). I used my regular Canon 700D camera but the only ND filters to hand were my husband's which only fit into his 135mm lens so used those.. I captured this on my old 500D with my regular Tamron 18- 270mm lens.
Elliðaárdalur is in the middle of Reykjavík City. One of the prettiest places in town to go for a walk or biking. This picture was taken moments after the eclipse was over.
The moon sliding across in front of the sun as viewed from Kemnay, Aberdeenshire. I would end up seeing the entire 94% maximum coverage before rain stopped play.

A collage of the several frames taken during the solar eclipse in Greenwich with the Royal Observatory and Flamsteed Astronomy Society. We can see a slight dip in luminosity. We all noticed a dip in temperature too!
Half of the sun now hidden as viewed from Kemnay, Aberdeenshire. I would end up seeing the entire 94% maximum coverage before rain stopped play.
The cloud cover lifted so much after this that I couldn't get any more photos. But still, quite happy I got a fair bit of the transit from west to east.
The beginning of the solar eclipse, March, 20th, 2015. Seen in the canton of glarus, CH, near Rautispitz.
View through the welding screen shield that I was holding to watch the event without hurting my eyes.
Friday morning eclipse, views from Scout Rd on Winter Hill, Bolton Lancashire. It was cloudy at first and when the clouds moved we had a fantastic view of the eclipse as the moon covered the sun, The car park was full and so was the road... Bit of a party atmosphere as it went cooler and the light went. we all well enjoyed the experience of light to dark in two minutes and sudden drop in temperature.. Hope you all had the chance to see and feel it.
