the seventeenth century iron helmet of sixty-two plates with raised ridges, terminating into a shakudo and copper-gilt five-stage tehen kanamono of chrysanthemum form, leather mabisashi [peak] and fukigaeshi [turnbacks], the turnbacks applied with mitsudomoe mon [triple tomoe crests], the two-tiered shikoro with kebiki odoshi [close-spaced lacing] in green braid, the russet iron mempo with detachable nose plate and open mouth, red lacquer upper lip and silver lacquer teeth, red lacquer interior, the four-tier yodaregake [throat protector] with kebiki odoshi [close-laced] in green braid, the pigeon-breasted do [cuirass] hinged in two pieces, decorated in gold and silver hiramaki-e on a black ground with a pair of three-clawed dragons facing one another amongst smoke and clouds, the broad six-tiered o-sode [large shoulder guards] constructed in honkozane [true lamellae] and leather, Muromachi period, 16th century, chainmail kote [sleeves], seven tassets of five-tiered kusazuri [skirt], later, the underskirt in pale green and gold brocade with three further tassets of three-tiered lacquer plates, all components with mistudomoe fuji mon, bishamon suneate [shin guards], with an armour storage box and modern armour stand

This helmet is part of a rare example of a medieval yoroi. The yoroi is characterized by a cuirass that wraps around the body and is closed by a separate panel (waidate) on the right side and by a deep four-sided skirt. In use from around the tenth to the fourteenth century, yoroi were generally worn by warriors on horseback.
Originally, this armor was laced in white silk and had diagonal bands of multicolored lacings at the edges of the skirt and the sode (shoulder guards, missing here). The colored lacings symbolized the rainbow, which represented both good fortune and fleeting beauty. The breastplate is covered with stenciled leather bearing the image of the powerful Buddhist deity Fudō Myō-ō, whose fierce mien and attributes of calmness and inner strength were highly prized by the samurai. The helmet, long associated with this armor, dates from the middle of the fourteenth century.
Traditionally, it is believed that this yoroi was donated to the Shinomura Hachimangū , a shrine near Kyoto, by Ashikaga Takauji (1305–1358), founder of the Ashikaga shogunate.

Historic cellar village of Hajos, Hungary - the largest continuous cellar district in Europe, consisting of 1,200 wine cellars, this 'cellar town' is virtually a village in its own right, built on top of a loess hill in the middle of the Hungarian Plains. Cellars are 10 to 50 metres long, in most cases lined with brick walls, ensuring constant and ideal temperature for wine storage. Wine press houses were built on top of the entrance of the cellars.
I spent an evening here at a friend's cellar with friendly discussions, drinking wine and eating grilled meat, in an ideal setting under a walnut tree. Next morning I drove around the cellar village and took some more pictures.

The suji-bachi kabuto of sixty-two plates with raised ridges, copper-gilt four-stage tehen kanamono, the mabisashi [peak] and fukigaeshi [turnbacks] decorated with stenciled Dutch leather of lions among flowers and vine, the four tiered shikoro of black lacquer and with orange keboki odoshi [close-spaced lacing], the gold lacquer wood maedate in the form of stylised stag antlers, the lacquered iron mempo with mouth agape and detachable nose plate, broad yak bristle moustache and chin tuft, copper-gilt teeth, red lacquer interior, three-tier yodare-gake [throat protector], with nodowa [throat guard] embellished with mon [crests], the do [cuirass] comprising of heavy iron kiritsuke-kozane [false lamellae] with black lacquer plates, the closely spaced orange braid matching all other components, decorated throughout with gilded ogimon [hand fan crests] and nanatsu boshi mon [Seven Luminaries crest], broad seven-tiered sode [shoulder guards], the kote [sleeves] weaved in a dense chirimen gusari [European-style chainmail], six tassets of five-tiered kusazuri [skirt], the lining of the decorated with bands of rippling water, the sunaete decorated in copper-gilt with butterflies and further nanatsu boshi mon, with armour box
