Voucher shot of a Smooth Earthsnake (Virginia valerina) in Florida, 2016. Matt Cage spotted this tiny shinny snake on a wet road in the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere, Liberty County, Florida. It's his super power. Note the smooth unkeeled scales and tiny black dots on dorsum.

Females and non-breeding males are pale brown or olive green, often with two darker stripes on the back. Both sexes have an orange belly, although it is paler in females, which is covered in rounded black spots. They also have a pale throat with conspicuous spots. This helps to distinguish them from palmate newts that have pale unspotted throats, and with which they are often confused. When on land they have velvety skin. During the breeding season, male smooth newts develop a continuous wavy (rather than jagged) crest that runs from their head to their tail, and their spotted markings become more apparent. They are also distinguishable from females by their fringed toes.
Spent a weekend in caloundra, visited wreck for sunsets/sunrise, the sunsets had the better weather and colours as it turned out and the sky turned a brilliant pink this evening

Cuba - Cayo Largo - The Smooth-billed Ani (Crotophaga ani) a large near passerine bird in the cuckoo family. It is a resident breeding species from southern Florida, the Bahamas, the Caribbean, parts of Central America, south to western Ecuador, Brazil, and northern Argentina. Wikipedia
These odd-bodied fish were pretty common. You would often see them in pairs and they would tend to watch you from a cautious distance.

10s time exposure, so the water goes flat & cloudy. To go any longer, I'd need a filter, but the effect is very visible. It was nearly dark, but I had to restrict the shot to reduce the level of light.

From last night. The clouds were so smooth, they looked like they were moving very fast. But it was so calm and still.
Although all of the stonework at Chaco would have been plastered over, it appears that the workmen took extra care to fit the stones smoothly.

This time I tried drop photography using milk instead of water, giving a nice texture to the drop itself.

Hosta 'Smooth Sailing' is really a pretty hosta, so fresh and crisp looking with no apparent transplant shock. I use kabob skewers and masking tape to assure the leaves stay upright and do not damage the plant any more than shipping problems.
