Back in Georgetown after a long, long day of traveling yesterday. I have so many images to go through still, but I was able to edit a few while I was still in the jungle. The purpose of my short trip was to participate in a training program with Conservation International-Guyana to teach monitoring and identifiacation methods for reptiles and amphibians to members of the Protected Areas Commission, students from the University of Guyana, and local members of Yupukari Village.

During a short night river survey, we found this juvenile Smooth-fronted caiman (Paleosuchus trigonatus) which I brought back to camp to show the rest of the group in the morning. When I released it afterwards, I hopped into the water to capture a few images. Just a few snaps before it was off on its way!

Roseate Spoonbill - taken in Myakka River State Park, Florida.

This was a little cascade I found near Big Creek that was in my last photo. I loved the smoothness of the water here. What a beautiful place this was.

This is my final shot from the trip to Skye earlier in the month with Steve.

This time a long exposure to smooth the sea and catch the subtle colour on the surface of the water.

It was one of those calm days with a great sunset show that lasted a long time.....

This was taken at 7:35 PM. The previous image was taken at 7:21 PM (of the cloud in the upper right here) and the image before that was taken at 7:08 PM. I just love those amazing days when there are photo ops in every direction....

I saw this blue heron in the lake and he was walking so smoothly that even I tried not to make any noise so he could catch the fish.

I didn't think we were going to get any colour to the sunrise this morning, them boom.

The beauty of calla lilies possibly the most beautiful of all flowers

We went out playing with our new ND filter today. It was an amazing day and we were up fairly early. The day was so amazing that there wasn't a cloud in the sky which left it a bit bland and it is as nice to see the clouds in motion as it is to see the water smoothed over by the slow exposure time. Also they would have given the sky a bit more texture. We have a tone of locations for later in the spring when the leaves get some green as the color is a bit bland at the moment. There will be more to come!

The smooth snake (Coronella austriaca) is quite rare to encounter in our part of the country, so I guess I was a bit lucky when I met this one, one spring day 😉

Sorry this isn't a good picture. I got chased away by an angry employer who thought I was photographing her employee working near the birds. I explained that I was a birder and showed her the picture. lol :) It ended well. But the anis flew off. :(

Smooth-billed Anis live throughout the Lesser Antilles and I've also seen them in the Cayman Islands. I also saw them in Tortola this trip.

This bird is not to be confused with the Groove-billed Ani that lives in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico.

Westbound at Avon after successfully ascending and descending Mullan Pass. I always enjoyed catching a train on the section of rail between Elliston and Garrison. So peaceful until the quiet was erased with the clamoring of a westbound LM. Good memories
