On the way from California to Iceland and Switzerland I transferred at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport this summer. The self-driving train that connects the terminals runs below ground. Perfect for a motion blur shot.

I processed a balanced and a photographic HDR photo from a RAW exposure, blended them, carefully adjusted the color balance and curves, and desaturated the image. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

This great egret almost seems formed of plastic to me. Feathers and flesh though

WATERFALL🌞

Tall or small I like them all😍

Somewhere along the E6, the Saltdalselva, I saw this wonderful little waterfall with beautiful layers and great rocks. I had to stop and put my tripod somwhere to get this beauty in a smooth flow😍

A long exposure from this evening at an old, ruined groyne in Sandringham, looking west towards the sunset and moored yachts.

The bay was extremely calm and smooth this evening, making it easy to get that glass-like effect on the water.

Canola flowers in gentle summer rain .

This one is just from the camera with the aid of a ND filter as the Lilly was in full sun.

Tried a couple tweaks as usual, but rather liked this one the way it is.

Occasionally i get to practice the art of smooth water. I only own one ND filter and it only fits one lens...so sometime i experiment with an open shutter speed and fudging the the F-stop if the day is gray, or dismal or foggy! This was one of those days last winter that was not too abysmally cold and i actually set foot out of the house!!

I am heading out for a walk before the rains come...maybe we will get enough rain to actually have some moving water here...it has been so dry that the trees are stressing and we still have to water the mums. the pond is so low that i think it is maybe ankle deep right now and i wonder if the fish are still in there!

Hope you all have a speedy and mellow Tuesday! Heading out before the storms!

JJ Audubon comments:

As mentioned in an earlier posting, Hubbard Pond and its surroundings are under consideration as the site for a heavy industrial type facility by the Regents of the University of Michigan. If the project goes forward, another piece of the critical natural habitat necessary to sustain these and other vulnerable creatures will be lost forever.

UPDATE: In a 12 March 2016 letter, the President of the University of Michigan indicates the proposed heavy industrial project for this site has been "paused". Plus, all applications for various construction permits are suspended and no construction contracts have been awarded.

While this turn of events appears positive, all it takes is will and a whim to re-activate the project. Until the final determination is STOP, the possibility of this easily preventable man-made disaster remains. Now is the time to stand-up. Mother Nature needs your voice.

You do not need to be a resident of the affected neighborhood to sign the petition to STOP this project. Your help will be greatly appreciated. See...

Anis are dark-coloured birds with a distinctive ridged bill, with different appearance in the three species. This Smooth-billed Ani was observed in an agricultural area near the city of Guapimirim in Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil.
