For some people, bones are frightful. Well, maybe 2000 years ago, but not anymore, even if you see some plastic replicas pushing through your neighbor’s lawn. La mostra To be or not to be approfondisce il tema del teschio, da sempre utilizzato nella storia dell'arte come richiamo alla mortalità dell'uomo, oggi simbolo effimero, privato della sua sacralità, di cui si appropria la moda, il design, ...l'arte contemporanea. Gli Orticanoodles ripropongono l'immagine del teschio in una serie di ritratti di personaggi mediaticamente noti, che vengono decorticati e resi crani vuoti. To be or not to be, il dilemmia shakespeariano, ci porta a riflettere su che cosa resta di questi uomini e donne una volta tolta l'immagine che crea il loro status. Attraverso la tecnica dello stencil, che utilizzano magistralmente, gli Orticanoodles ci mettono a confronto con la questione dell'identità, dell'immagine costruita, per far passare un messaggio. Gli artisti propongono delle opere, attraverso le quali lo spettatore si può specchiare e interrogarsi sul suo proprio apparire. Il linguaggio di Wally e Alita utilizza proprio i parametri visivi della cultura pop e della pubblicità per deformarne il messaggio e fare critica sociale. I loro teschi ci chiedono: che cosa conta davvero? Apparire o agire? Vivere o morire? To be or not to be?

My lovely friend from gorgeous Saint Petersburg made a great photo of my postcard.
I lived in Saint Petersburg before I moved to Germany. When I lived there I used to discover something new about the city every day. There are a lot of things to see and to do.
However the most spectacular thing happens right now - white nights! The sun sets up only for a short period of time, the city stays awake for almost 24 hours a day, the vibrating crowds don’t disappear from the streets and multiple events are held around the city!
