Now you''re probably thinking I'm totally mad, because I spent a lot of money and time to design a compact version with a plastic custom body, and now I'm thinking again to go back to the bulky view camera...
At this point I don't care anymore about expenses. every time I try to not spend too much I end up with something not perfect and then i have to spend more to change it. so this is my last and definitive design(well.. by now it's only a sketch...): the premise is to build a camera even more precise than the "big ones" (like the Alpa) to take the maximum advantage of the scanner's resolution.
I don't care if it will weigth a ton. I'll use aluminium, stainless steel and brass, with high precision guides and ball bearings.
Also I'm re-designing the entire interior of the camera.
I hope to finish it before winter 2011.
It's time of the year when most of my jobs are cleared, and some minor jobs still left dangling. And distraction kicks in while surfing, i came across the story of Laocoön, and one mythology leads to another... i saw this stunning 2200 year old statue of Nike. I know i need to sketch it! So yes, work can wait.. and i tell myself 30 minutes to sketch and thats it! The sketch gradually became harder and more intricate than expected, and when i thought i almost got it, more than an hour past by. Crap... now i REALLY need to work.
NOTE: Those red label dots i placed on the sketch are actually mistakes that i made; as my patience to get the details right was wearing a little thin (Gahhhh....).
Randocroquis dans les rues de Paris : le samedi à Montmartre, le dimanche autour du Pont-Neuf. Ces croquis sont des explications des consignes d'exercices. Quelques fois on voit des dessins pêle-mêle, parfois des images plus finalisées.
And I thought sketching large Portabella mushrooms was going to be easy... Not so. I found it quite hard.
Then, I made Mushroom Stroganoff for lunch. That was easy and tasted yummy! :)
Here is the receipe:

It was quite warm today and, at first, the Noodlers Ink fountain pen was leaking. Later on, it ran dry. I remember that this used to happen on hot days with my Rotring pens at work. Blame the fountain pen for the smudges. I am getting new refills for the LAMY fountain pen and hope the ink is waterproof!
My next little project is to do this in an ink and watercolour wash. Today. Or, may be tomorrow :)
Recently, I found an artist on line, who I am finding inspiring, addressing some of the 'issues' that I have and have to keep reminding myself of www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiCkTRsvICI
A couple of months ago I bought two of these wooden stools at a community yard sale. I keep them in my truck for on-location sketching. The original owner is a guy from Denmark who bought these at a Dude Ranch in Montana. Dimensions; 18" x 14" x 3".
