Valencia Streetscape project "included the replacement and addition of 76,000 square feet of sidewalk and the installation of pedestrian bulbouts to provide traffic calming, facilitate street crossing and add space for gathering.
Additional improvements included the planting of 106 Brisbane Box and London Plane trees along the sidewalks, new trash receptacles, 69 bike racks, 32 wheel chair accessible curb ramps, 26 roadway scale lights and 46 pedestrian scale lights.
Four Victorian-themed street posts, uniquely designed for Valencia Street and through the San Francisco Arts Commission, were also installed at particular locations. Public art called Valencia Street Post was installed by artist Michael Arcega."

It is interesting this isn't included in the wall description (though there is a video www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpkocJ5kbEY ):
Then-Mayor Dianne Feinstein directed the Arts Commission, which had commissioned the piece and paid Arneson half of the $37,000 fee, to reject it unless he agreed to change the pedestal.
In 2000, now-Sen. Feinstein told Chronicle staff writer Mike Weiss that because of the pain and polarization in the city after the Jonestown massacre, the assassinations and the White Night riots, "I did not feel it was appropriate public art at the time. And I felt and feel very strongly about Gina (Moscone) and the family and what they had gone through."
Arneson, who was known for his irreverence and comic bite and obviously wasn't going to cast a heroic bronze, refused to alter the piece and returned the fee. San Francisco art dealer Foster Goldstrom snapped up the sculpture for $50,000.

In the pouring rain before the #google bus blockade, he said unlike some supervisors who just had proclamations stamped, he signed every one himself.
He said the proclamation said Raymond "Shrimpboy" Chow which seemed a bit fishy, so he googled and didn't sign. Mayor Ed Lee, others supervisors and politicians did.
