This is where I take my agate photographs and the setup is very light and portable. Using two sunlamps I purchased at Home Depot, set at about 45 degree angles and about even with my chair - a simple cardboard box, painted flat-black inside and covered with black felt, with a hole cut in the front, just big enough to display the various size agates I am photographing. All other light sources are turned off or blacked out by other pieces of black cloth.

The setup. Sb800 into Morris softbox 1/4 power triggered by Su800

Model: Laura.

Lighting setup:

1. Canon Speedlite 580EX II set to 1/4th power and 24mm zoom, positioned 2m from the subject at 45 degrees camera right, shot through a 40cm x 30cm softbox and triggered with a PocketWizard PLUS II.

2. Canon Speedlite 580EX set to 1/2 power and 24mm zoom, positioned at 90 degrees camera right, bounced off a 42" silver and gold umbrella and triggered with a PocketWizard PLUS II.

Those among you who follow my posting of Pluto Valve control blocks will soon realise this is again another setup and might also think that I am a weirdo to keep testing new arrangements of the necessary components. Unfortunately, that has been indeed true and the reason for changing has always been the lack of rigidity of the block carrying Pluto trigger and its valves due to the quality of the roller heads I used and of some of the remaining components. Also, I have been trying to minimise the size and number of total components used, while maintaining and also improving the block functionality, ease of operation, and its global stiffness. The current block is built around, in this last version, a camera rig I once used to operate a video serving GH4, but not anymore... There are still a number of areas where the current block can be further improved, but for the time being this is my most rigid and most accommodating configuration ever. I also ordered a Keiser RS1 (5510) system with an RA1 mount head as my currently use Falcon-eyes is not too rigid either.

My desk cluttered with some stuff and my new setup, complete with my new Apple keyboard. Thanks guys!

Mac Rumors has an entire photo thread just on peoples' past and present computer setups.

There's one. On the right a 4th gen Nano docked with a G4 PowerBook that I now use as a sort of Mac Mini, seeing as how the built in screen is developing age spots.

Either BSD Unix or a flavour of MS on the dual core Dell on the left, some analog stuff in the form of guitars and cameras, and some Lovecraftian nightmare developing down low and away.

This is the setup shot for the two "New Boots" product shots. The "studio" is my dining room. The tripod at right is where the camera was for the normal shots.

The light in the background is my 430EX on a shoe stand at 1/16 power & 70mm spread. I shielded it from the lens by a cardboard box I found nearby. Both flashes were fed by my Cactus V4 radio triggers.

The main light was provided by my Sunpak 522 (1/4 power) bounced into an umbrella which I handheld overhead just in front of the boots. I need to get a boom light stand. Though not apparent in this shot, I angled it toward the camera so as not to light up the beige curtains which were five feet behind the boots. That made the table top & background fade nicely to black.

Strobist setup for day 187 of my 365

DEMO Setup - DEMO Fall 2013 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California Monday October 14, 2013. Complete coverage of DEMO, the Launchpad for Emerging Technologies and Trends, can be found at bit.ly/DEMOsite.

The most important part of this setup was the black GOBO to keep light off the background to produce a deep black which the client insisted on - and the SU800 controller. This was a location setup in a spare room with everything brought in and on my Skoda station wagon
