Continuing on with what's growing now in my Northeast Iowa yard and neighborhood. A squirrel must have planted this in my herb garden. The taproot was much longer than what I could dig up. The closest red oak is in the next block down Clay Street. May 24, 2021

New growth in nature. Inspiring in its own small way. Photographed in Canada's Yoho National Park.

Wilding conifers, also known as wilding pines, are invasive trees in the high country of New Zealand. Millions of dollars are spent on controlling their spread.

In the South Island they threaten thousands of hectares of private and public land including roadsides. The wilding conifers are considered to be a threat to biodiversity, farm productivity and to landscape values. Since they often invade tussock grasslands – which are characterised by low-lying vegetation that is considered to be a natural environment – the tall trees become a prominent and unwanted feature.

This tiny one lives no longer! Pulled it out

Out for a walk in the woods the other weekend, leaning against a tree to take a photo, I noticed this little seedling growing in a crook near the base. With the tough of evening sun on the bark above I thought it would make a nice low key photograph...

More First Seed ENB .254 Update WIP

Stopped to get some veggies at Dempsey's Farm on Saint Helena yesterday on my way back from grooming Napoleon and decided to take a few quick pics. I just loved the painterly look to this when I downloaded it. No textures applied just a couple actions by Florabella to brighten since it was about to pour!

Just a random field in Oregon that had recently been planted with tree seedlings (not sure what type) they kind of reminded me of gravestones although the opposite is true thankfully.

I really messed my back up again, can't sit in front of the computer for long so I'll visit when I can, thanks for you patience.

I decided to start a new chapter in this Story!

I have some ideas for it but I'm going to kinda let it develop in the same way, take a photo see how I can work it into the story and then take others to develop it. I like letting them take on their own narrative.

Weather or just old age, even the big rainforest trees fall one day. You wonder how many years it’s been since they popped their heads up as seedlings. In time, like all of life, they will return to the earth from whence they came to renew the cycle of life and in the meantime will provide a home for numerous members of the natural world.

Seedlings from a dandelion can be beautiful... :-)

A seed is a seed. But that does not remain. It must grow to become complete, what it was designed to be. Within its make up lies the blueprint of potential and possibility. A dormant seed does not grow, but it could. I had grown so comfortable in my complacency. The dark soil was enough. I had no need for roots to seek nourishment, certainly no need for a leaf to feel warmth. No. Inactive sleep was enough. But in the deep earth a familiar dream shimmered. This was not all there was. You reawaked in me a desire for life, gave me a restless agitation with this hollow deep stillness. I wished to live, to grow, to mature. The fear of the seed is that in order to develop, its present state will be shed, it in essence will die but in return it will flourish in life.

John 11:25-26

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

Philippians 1:6

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Barbie is enjoying her first day in the garden for the season. The sun is out and the sky is blue. She is transplanting pea seedlings. She has added several bags of compost to her soil and has set up trellises for the peas to climb.
