Afghan groups were really angry at the BBC’s depiction of the Taliban as positive. They marched from Hyde Park, up to the BBC and on to Trafalgar Square.
He is one of the security guards of a local hospital in Banasree area. Very long duty period & sub par salary make life hard for them.
American viewers may not appreciate this, but gun ownership in the Philippines is far more ubiquitous than elsewhere in Southeast Asia (and which I presume is due to its colonial history). Every security guard carries at least a holster. Often with bullets, often with a pistol. I had this photo shown to a professional appreciator of photography. He did not understand why I put so many elements in this photo. I think it all fits together. Cleaning the streets this way is also something you see regularly everywhere in Southeast Asia. Oh, and the security guard was a nice guy. As usual in the Philippines he had no issues with having his photo taken. Salamat, Sir!
Cebu is covered in my new book Queen of the South. It contains 66 B&W-photographs of natural beauty, grungy cities and interesting people in the Visayas in the Philippines.
Queen of the South is sold at cost price with a small mark-up. The mark-up will benefit in full some of the slum dwellers featured in the book and in this set.
Besides via Blurb, you can now also purchase the book via Amazon. There is a premium, however, and you cannot choose a hardcover edition.
Good news is something very rare in Bangladeshi newspaper. Yet, people prefers to be updated about country and the world.
Brink's leaves a mall bank branch. I'm sure this fellow is doing something work-related, but directing his attention to a device when moving around in public still seems like risky behavior (even if he was only doing a drop and not taking any cash away).
Matthew worked in the building where I work. He recently joined the National Guard. He was a few months away from his basic training in Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri, and we talked for awhile about the duties of the National Guard.
"If you don't mind my asking," I asked "Why did you join the Guard?"
"Well," he replied,"I felt it was my duty."
Take care, Matthew, and thanks much. Remain well. Stay safe.

Some people are very eager to get photographed. They don't ask the reason or anything. They just love to get photographed.

This was outside NAMO Tuscan Grill in the Rex Hotel. We were here to make a dinner reservation. The restaurant guard was having an afternoon siesta.
Give a Vietnamese a seat and the first thing to happen is the sandals come off.
Part of my Deep Reflections series. These are single images that capture the reflecting surface, what is in front of the reflecting surface, and what is behind the reflecting surface. This allows the brain to recombine aspects of 3 different depths in various ways.
