On August 22, 2015, I attended the 3rd Annual WERK Fashion Show at ACL Live at The Moody Theater (310 W. Willie Nelson Blvd. [a.k.a. W. 2nd St.]). The show was presented by Austin Pride and featured a number of Project Runway designers. I booked what I thought would be a good seat -- Mezzanine Section 2, row A, seat 311 -- but unfortunately, the railing at the end of the aisle partially blocked my view of the runway. :( The view of the stage was clear, but the right half of the runway was blocked. The worst part is I paid the same as everyone else in the front row of the mezzanine; there wasn't any kind of discount for the obstructed view. So if anyone is considering booking this seat in the future, be forewarned!

The second part of our guided kayak trip has us relocate to the northern region of Sardinia. Here the landscape was more granite than sandstone, and thunderstorms chased us off the water a bit.

Introduced cool-season annual
erect, tufted grass to 60 cm tall. Flowerheads are open panicles. Spikelets are drooping on thin nodding stems, large (10-20 mm long), 7-19 flowered and unawned. Lemmas are inflated and as broad as long. Germinates from autumn to spring and flowers in late winter and spring. A native of the Mediterranean, it is a minor weed along roadsides and in disturbed areas where there is poor ground cover. An indicator of poor ground cover. Of little agricultural importance as it produces little leaf before going to head and is uncompetitive in coastal pastures. Easily managed with dense pastures and by removing flowerheads at early flowering for 1-2 years.
