On a grey cold morning 47 211 is at the head of a Scunthorpe to Wolverhampton Speedlink service, in the background the sad remains of Brownhills goods depot can be seen.

47211 was built at Crewe as D1861 and put into traffic 28/08/1965. As 47 211 it carried the evocative(!) name Johnson Stevens Agencies from 14/09/1995 until 30/06/1996 it became a Fragonset Railways locomotive until it was withdrawn 31/05 2003, it was cut at Eastleigh 31/07/2003.

Oxygen tanks at the Scunthorpe steelworks. These are for oxygen storage in case there is a problem with supply from BOC. There should be enough to finish off a Basic Oxygen Steelmaking vessel to prevent it being lost.

The amazing bluebell woods just around the corner from where I live in Scunthorpe. After a downpour of rain, the colours of the woodland really jump out at you.

My images are processed to look good on my laptop, and they do look good on there - and on my phone and tablet - I am aware though that some other screens will show my images as either too dark or indeed too light. This is due to individual screen settings and not my inability to produce a clear image ....

Scunthorpe Central Library, now looking a bit lost on its own as the nearby buildings have been knocked down - some replaced by a few flower beds. Seeing the place standing alone sure shows the architecture of the 60s/70s is very different from today's styles.

DB Cargo 66174 passes the 'mothballed' South Bank Coke Ovens heading the 13:24 Lackenby to Scunthorpe empty steel flats on Tuesday 30th May 2017. Nature is gradually taking over amidst the industrial dereliction of Teesside.

47380 leads the scrap line near Scunthorpe steel works

Class 56, 56102 waits in Trent Yard Reception Line, opposite Scunthorpe station, heading Hertfordshire Railtours “Roxby Music” railtour on Saturday 23rd July 1994. The tour was heavily delayed here as Keadby Canal Swing Bridge on the line from here to Doncaster had not closed properly making the track unsafe to proceed. A number of passengers who needed to get back to London disembarked here to board hastily arranged buses to Doncaster to catch the last service train south before engineering work kicked in. The small bonus was everyone could get off and get a photo! The tour finally got clearance to proceed and I arrived back at Peterborough some 3 hours later than planned. 56102 was withdrawn in September 2003 and scrapped at EMR, Hartlepool in September 2010.
