Another day, another storm on the march. Another moment where I am caught between two masses. The more I visit places like this, the more in tune I feel with the land and the environment. It's not easy to explain the sort of irresistible compulsion that draws me here virtually every evening. It's strangely comfortable emotionally, even at times when I"m apprehensive or even frightened by the circumstances. I'm continually probing into the desolation under increasing darkness. It's definitely a case of pushing the boundaries. Storms really play into the intensity, both physical and emotional. Photographically this has morphed into a form of scrying for lack of a better term. At times like this, the camera is a sort of gazing ball, an extension of my mind more than anything else. I seldom even look at what I am shooting and mostly just point the camera in the direction where I sense the most energy. I'm not sure I'm even fully in control of the process. It seems as if turning off the analytical part of my mind allows some other force to fill in the void. This photo exemplifies that thinking (or lack thereof). It is a vision not merely of the effect of wind, rather of how it might feel to be the wind itself, flowing out over the the corn rows, answering to no-one. It's perfect in its imperfection.

Nephomancy or Nephelomancy is divination by studying clouds. This involves observing and interpreting the color, shape and position of clouds in the sky. The Celtic Druids made extensive use of nephomancy, which they called neladoracht.
Celtic shamans sometimes practiced a form of Nephomancy that was closely related to Hydromancy and Scrying. After finding a hollowed stone or other depression that was filled with rain water, priests would look into it studying the cloud formations reflected on the water’s surface.
To practice Nephomancy today, one should ask specific questions and then observe the shape and disposition of the clouds. This is easy enough to do in most parts of the world and requires only a basic understanding of the forces involved.

Slowly working on my theory of scrying through found objects.
I came back from a walk in the woods with these finds. What are my conclusions:
1) It is a combination of what the world *gives* to you and what you *accept* from it. So the find encodes both the state of the world as your inner state.
2) It is possible that your inner state is the dominant factor. But it could also be that the find shows how much you are *in balance* with the world around you.
In this case it is very clear that my inner state is dominant because I can explain quite well why these object drew my attention.
A) For years I've been trying to find a so called "ventifact" - a stone shaped by ice-age storms. The triangular shape of this stone reminds me of ventifact shapes (dreikanter, windkanter). But the shape of the stone has probably more to do with the layering of the original rock.

B) The round flint was like an eye that stared at me from the ground. It simply commanded me to be picked up. I've also always been intrigued by this type of rounded flintstones.

C) The glass pieces were a pleasant surprise. I've been jealous of the people who can collect "sea glass" at the beach. I've found that road glass can be just as interesting. Semi transparent, etched and no sharp edges!

D) I had to think hardest about the piece of tile. Why did I pick that up? Because it reminded me of old pseudo-chinese renaissance tiles that I found in Rotterdam. But why do I like these? Because they accumulate history and time. That gives them their special aura.
I suspect that further ideas will go in the direction of dream interpretation and sandplay.
Still I don't know why the world was staring at me through that single stone eye. But it was not an unfriendly gaze ...

The red of the rocks provides great contrast. It was a lovely day down at Wilson's Prom. The sun was shining, Squeaky Beach was squeaking, and the many visitors were all in good spirits!

I've been called many things...but few know my true name. It has been lost in time, forgotten just like most of the myths that speak of me. I don't care; I am not interested in fame, only to feed.
It used to be a lot harder to find food. I had to go hunting for them, and they'd always run. There were...irritating characters who would oppose me at times, as well. I was forced to feed on rahi if a hunt went badly enough. Bland, disgusting...no reason or sentience to flavor them. One day, however, I managed to subdue a Turaga from a nearby village. Rather than consuming his essence outright, I repressed it, hollowed him out save a few shards of consciousness to keep his body intact. He served as my lure that night, summoning the matoran together for a meeting while I waited a ways away, scrying on the meeting from my position. Through him I told them a story, the story of a fathomless being nearly as old as the Great Beings themselves. How this being, stripped of near all its power eons ago, was now forced to walk in a frame scarcely stronger than a filthy toa's and speak with a puppet, a plaything, to get its next meal. A few of the matoran began to grow disconcerted. A few seconds later they were all asleep, fallen victim to one of many powdery compounds thrown into the fire for dramatic explosions in the story... the last one a drug.
Now I feed well, needless to say, thanks to my puppet. Sowing fear with my story each time adds extra spice to every meal.
I still keep my hunting gear, though. Still replenish my tank of metadermis and practice aiming with my gauntlets and shaping it with my weakened mind-will. I remember I could form entire mountains out of nothing to crush my enemies...and now I rely on this liquid, highly receptive to mind-willing, to form a simple chain and mace. But I must defend myself...so that when my appetite has been sated at long, long last, there will be none in my way as I take back what has always be mine.
Hopefully the floating chains in the other build make more sense now. :3
This was the first to be built, based very heavily on Brickthing's Onuta. Throughout the building process, I continually found myself referring to and reverse-engineering parts of it where my own knowledge was lacking, especially for the knee joints and elbows.

I /finally/ got around to re-doing one of my favorite 'scenes' of Nixie now that she's all updated and I /think/ I'm done tweaking her lol.
My little Seeress scrying in her pearl, who knows what the tyrant is plotting these days. <3
A scrying mirror is used in divination...ie gazing into a crystal ball, reading tea leaves,water in ink etc... Remember...Snow White..mirror, mirror, on the wall... Searching for lost souls, answers to questions they may hold. Claude glass,, a small convex black mirror, is not the same. These were used by landscape painters to isolate the subject that was reflected in it, which affected the tonal range of color making it more suitable for painting. The artist looked into the mirror with their back to the scene.
The Mirror of Erised of Harry Potter note, I show not your face but your heart's desire" read backwards from the inscrption on it: Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi. Dumbledore hides the Philosopher's Stone in it.
The funeral home advertising piece is old, it had a nice dark glass due to the silver-tin degrading over time, I thought it was a good prop here..

Abyssian; perched atop craggy rocks amongst the Moruth Swamplands of Nocturnus, this is a most inhospitable place and home to Lord Ssilyrrlith, current leader of the Nocturnus Guild. He is surrounded by his loyal Reptrians and mystics who use the strange Orion sphere to scrye.
I was looking to create my first full castle build and wanted to achieve a remote, isolated yet claustrophobic feel with many tall spires and towers crammed in together. Hope you guys like the look and feel free to comment and critique.

The Accademia Degli Incogniti - The Mist by Daniel Arrhakis (2024)
Achlys /ˈæklɪs/ (Ancient Greek: Ἀχλύς "mist"), in the Hesiodic Shield of Heracles, is one of the figures depicted on Heracles' shield, perhaps representing the personification of sorrow. In Homer, achlys is the mist which fogs or blinds mortal eyes (often in death).
In Norse mythology, one of the Nine Worlds was called “Niflheim” which can be translated as “Mist-Home”. It was a frozen and ancient place, one of the two primordial realms of cold and heat from which the steam of creation began.
Mist is often used to symbolize uncertainty and confusion, like a Veil that blurs, and distorts, our vision and Perception it prevents us from "seeing" clearly.
It is the "Gray Zone" between reality and unreality, the domain of doubt ... It serves as a gentle reminder to look for the light of truth and embrace it.
A kind of mist or fog is also often seen when practicing divination through scrying in a mirror or crystal, many psychics report seeing a swirling mist or fog which lifts to reveal the desired vision.
In the context of Genesis 2:6, the mist can be seen as a representation of God's providence and care for His creation. Just as the mist nourishes and sustains the earth, God's love and guidance nurture and sustain all living beings.
In the spiritual realm, mist represents a connection to the divine nature of things, symbolizing a thin veil between the physical and spiritual realms.
It can also represent transitional states, indicating that you are moving from one phase of your life to another, or are in the process of transformation.
The Mystic Symbolism Of Mist In The Ion Mystical World
In the Ion Mystical World the symbolism is deeper and more complex, if on the one hand it symbolizes uncertainty and confusion, like a Veil that blurs, and distorts, our vision and Perception. On the other hand, it is a kind of portal where space and time can coexist in a given place.
Often in certain places where great and dramatic events occurred, spiritual memories remain that vibrate like strings repeatedly and indefinitely; as if the planes of reality intersected with the lines of events on different temporal planes.
