Cruise ships wait in the deep water while their tenders take passengers ashore for the climb to the top, or a local boatride.

One of the many cycladic islands of Greece, is considered as the Aegean wonder. This album is our story, which is just a piece of this wonder.

14/52 Un lugar al que quiero ir.

{Seasons 2019} My diary

Ι would appreciate your critique at the guestbook if you liked it.

This gives you a great perspective on how Santorini is built. When you are on top you really cannot see the height. But when you are on the bottom you can see the magnitude of the mountains and height. Really something to see. I took this shot early morning on a ferry heading to Ios island.

Santorini is one of the Cyclades islands in the Aegean Sea. It was devastated by a volcanic eruption in the 16th century BC, forever shaping its rugged landscape. The whitewashed, cubiform houses of its 2 principal towns, Fira and Oia, cling to cliffs above an underwater caldera (crater). They overlook the sea, small islands to the west and beaches made up of black, red and white lava pebbles.

Akrotiri, a Bronze Age settlement preserved under ash from the eruption, provides a frozen-in-time glimpse into Minoan life. The ruins of Ancient Thera lie on a dramatic bluff that drops to the sea on 3 sides. Fira, the island's commercial heart, has the Archaeological Museum of Thera and boutique shops. It also has a lively bar scene and tavernas serving local grilled seafood and dry white wine, made from the Assyrtiko grape. Oia is famous for sunsets over its old fortress [Santorini Google Travel]

The volcano from Santorini

hundreds of people may be hoping to make their arrival at Santorini even more memorable and “romantic” by taking what they believe will be a “traditional” donkey ride up the long path that links the cruise ship dock with the town of Fira, the island's capital.
