River Names of Britain group: Behind this friendly and agreeable looking woman is the River Wenning, a tributary of the Lune, by the side of Hornby Castle in Lancashire. Wikipedia reckons it rises in Clapham, N. Yorks, and flows about a bit before it meets the Lune 1.5km east of Hornby. And according to the BBC, its name comes from the Old English "wan", meaning "the dark one"

Once was in the Barrack Guard at H.M.S. Victory, RNB Portsmouth and my duty station was ceremonial on the Commodores Building where I had to wear a cutlass.
Felt a right 'twot'.

despite being a very low tide the beach around the harbour and the slope down into the beach from the road above by the RNLI station was very busy, more boats were on the parkland next to the beach nearby, so guessing there had been something on earlier in the day before we arrived
The small town of Belleek-as well as boasting its own pottery, is surrounded by charming countryside viewing

Blackton Beck rises on Slate Ledge at the southern edge of Eggleston Common and flows through a very steep sided valley until it joins Eggleston Burn.

The area around the falls is the site of Blackton Smelt Mill of which there is now little evidence apart from all the slag seen here. Evidence of recent landslips making access to stream level qiute problematic. The banks are very unstable.
