Construction of Sagrada Família commenced in 1882 and Gaudí became involved in 1883, taking over the project and transforming it with his architectural and engineering style, combining Gothic and curvilinear Art Nouveau forms. Gaudí devoted his last years to the project, and at the time of his death at age 73 in 1926, less than a quarter of the project was complete. Sagrada Família's construction progressed slowly, as it relied on private donations and was interrupted by the Spanish Civil War, only to resume intermittent progress in the 1950s. Construction passed the midpoint in 2010 with some of the project's greatest challenges remaining and an anticipated completion date of 2026, the centenary of Gaudí's death.

The Duluth and Superior skylines sparkle on a clear night, pulled together by the Blatnik bridge which connects the two cities. In the foreground, one of the yard jobs is dumping on Dock 6, adding to the massive stockpiles of taconite at the docks while they are closed to marine traffic until the shipping season resumes in March. Absent a ship, DMIR 408 does the honours with a clear view of the dock lit up and illuminated ice formations providing a pretty neat perspective at night.

Holding my hands up, I am guilty of abiding by the sign on the right. Needed a little Flickr break, normal service should resume shortly HSS!

Businesses resume after 7 years or so on the used-to-be top street of Saigon

Located in the heart of historic Virginia City, First Presbyterian Church was established in 1862. The Carpenter Gothic style church building was built in 1866 at the cost of $4,700. Later, buildings on either side of the church were purchased to provide a meeting room, pastor's apartment and a rental space. The total cost was $12,000.

In 1871 a massive fire destroyed most of Virginia City. As the only public building not destroyed by the fire, First Presbyterian Church was immediately pressed into service as a soup kitchen, makeshift hospital and District Court Room.

Mine closings in the 1890's and a resulting population shift in Virginia City caused a decline in church membership. The church managed to keep going until 1947 when it was closed. The building languished until 1954 when it narrowly escaped demolition. A campaign was begun to restore the building. Regular worship services resumed in 1959.

While in the midst of this “wait a little longer” I am going to hush my incessantly worrying mind and harness opportunity. There is a “resume” button on the horizon. So here we go.

Time to press “resume” and move forward into this year with expectancy. Step into the future.

Many people ask me advice about their portfolio and CV and I always tell them to be creative to stand out of the crowd. This doesn't apply to all kind of jobs, but when you're talking about creative jobs, there are simply no rules on how to present yourself.

Don't mention the name of your kindergarden school, don't mention you've been working at McDonalds during summer break. Believe me, nobody cares. And if your future employer does care, then he'll select you on the wrong criteria. You don't want to work for such a company.

So get creative and make something awesome from your portfolio. Take the above portfolio as an example. Michael doesn't show any of its works and still he succeeds in showing off his talent. Not only he can create great graphics, he also proves to be able to turn 'boring' facts and figures into something exciting. Well done Michael!

A Brown Thrasher and Northern (Yellow-shafted, it seems, although this is within the intergrade zone) Flicker, having an argument over water rights at my backyard bird bath. Being birds, they are prone to drinking their own bathwater, and they often poop in it as well, forcing me to clean it out every day all summer long. I don't mind, though. They provide non-stop entertainment, viewed through my kitchen window, and often if I sit or stand very still, outside, the action will resume after a brief pause.

Too bad about the background in this one; I live right beside the school. No other angle was possible. I couldn't shift position without scaring them away. In a ten minute time frame, at least five species came to drink, bathe, poop, and peep. Feathers were ruffled, but no actual violence occurred.
