The old WWII radio station concrete building with freshly unveiled General Electric letters embossed on its façade and which had been concealed until recently on Radio Rd. in Redwood Shores, CA.

My first strobist shot!! Made this photo by one of the most beautiful buildings in the Netherlands. This is Radio Kootwijk, what a amazing place!! Think I am going back for shooting the building at night!
Best viewed large on black!
Discussing your results with other potographers proved to be important again. The conclusion was to crop the previous version to emphasize the reflection in which you do see the top of the building. I think it also creates different (more unique) view of Radio Kootwijk.
What else could I have titled it? There is a quirkiness about rural Australia that defines it. This is the home of radio station 2BH in Broken Hill. Where else could you find something like this?
Shot at the abandoned radio station Propaganda Bullhorn. Buildt during world war 2 its main purpose was broadcasting the national socialists' propaganda. Most of the techincal equipment is still in place, including a huge diesel engine which was supposed to provide electricity in case of a blackout.

Another photo of Radiostation Kootwijk during our "field trip" two weeks ago. Again taken with my new WA lens (tokina 12-28mm) and only 30 cm above the ground.
WMCA, 570 AM, is a radio station in New York City, most known for its "Good Guys" Top 40 era in the 1960s.
For WMCA's history, see my previously posted photo.
By chance I happened to be passing WMCA's transmitter shack a few weeks back, and the large neon sign was lighted during the day. Following the "shoot it when you see it" rule, I stopped for some shots,
Glasgow, Montana. Original studio equipment at the Pioneer Museum in Glasgow. Station still on the air with updated equipment. Bill Holder built the station. I worked there in 1965 while stationed at the Air Force Base north of town towards the Canadian border.

World Time Chart. Compliments of WGY radio broadcasting station, General Electric Co., Schenectady, N.Y., U.S.A.
This chart is useful for novice and amateur alike. Its chief use to the former is in determining the time at different points of the U.S., while to the latter its use is extended to include other countries.
This past Saturday, we attended an open house at CKUA radio station in honor of their 90th birthday. It was really great to tour the station and see some of the old and new technology that brought music into the homes of many people over the years

The Varberg Radio Station at Grimeton in southern Sweden (built 1922-24) is an exceptionally well-preserved monument to early wireless transatlantic communication. It consists of the transmitter equipment, including the aerial system of six 127-m high steel towers. Although no longer in regular use, the equipment has been maintained in operating condition, including the original Alexanderson alternator.
The site is an outstanding example of the development of telecommunications and is the only surviving example of a major transmitting station based on pre-electronic technology.
The Alexanderson alternator is on the list of IEEE Milestones as a key achievement in electrical engineering.

The popular danish radiostation Radio24syv shuts down after 8 years. They lost the funding they have received until now, now it's the end.
The most populaire show was "Den kort radioavis" (the short radiopaper) hostet by Rasmus Bruun and Frederik Cilius Jørgensen, the last was better known as Kirsten Birgit Schiøtz Kretz Hørsholm on the show.
They provaked and teased many politicans and known persons, entertaining the common man. They won quite a lot prices, these they hand out to the many listners and protesters how are disappointed the station closes. They met up on the last day the radiostation sends.
This is for my friend Sand-Grain's birthday, her favourite Canadian band! Happy Birthday!!!! "The Spirit of Radio" is a song released in 1980 by the Canadian rock band Rush from their album Permanent Waves. The song's name was inspired by Toronto radio station CFNY-FM's slogan...
In 1959 the radio station started broadcasting out of Evergreen Plaza as WNUA. WNUA played Big Band music as their format. In the early 1970's with WNUA making a move downtown they switched to top 40 music. In 1976 WNUA changed its call letters to WMET which played Classic Rock. In 1978 WMET changed again to WEFM which played top 40. Shortly after for a couple of years they played Jazz under WNUA. Now it is a Spanish music station.
