Main points:

-People are no longer religious because the religion is not able to connect people to God. When they call upon God, they do not receive help from God and the practice of religion is not benefiting them at all.

⁃Religion has been dragged through the mire by the actions of religious people. The practice of religion is not benefiting anybody; rather it is polluting hearts of people and making divisions among human beings.

⁃If Christianity in contemporary times had the calibre to connect people with God, and they would have felt God’s presence in their heart www.theawaitedone.com/teaching..., they would have never rejected God or said that God does not exist.

⁃The filth will stay in this world as long as the ideology of filth is there. Any philosophy or ideology that generates violence, hatred, killing, turns you against humanity or motivates you to kill people is unholy. It cannot come from God.

⁃Teach your children tolerance; tell them that all the religion are good and that nobody is their enemy.

Questions and Answers.....questions et reponses... Preguntas y respuestas..........

OK now tell me this shot doesn’t make you want to go out and have a picnic?! OK well maybe not today due to the rain, but once it’s over you’ll be out there. The warm sun, the green grass, and the sound of kids playing on the playground. It’s the simple things in life that make a world of difference. I can’t wait to take Pixel to the park and have our first picnic. I can imagine her main focus will be trying to eat lunch quick enough so that she can go and play on the slide. “No baby, finish your sandwich first. Ok drink your juice, wipe your mouth…..ok let’s go. Daddy’s going to beat you. Daddy’s gonna win! Faster, Faster…..ooooooo Daddy won!”

Yea daddy’s competitive. Maybe I’ll let her win next time!

Pixel's 365 – Aug 30th – DADDY’S FAVORITE HAT

I bought this hat somewhere during the first 365 project . It’s made its way into quite a few shots over the years. When Pixel was born I knew that one day (ok may days) I would use it for the little one, and I would just sit back and admire her. I think about it constantly; I think how much she’ll love this project when she gets older. Being able to look back at the first 365 days of her life, and to see all of the images from her keystone year. In reality I believe it’s just as much for Suzanne and I, as well as the rest of the family. It’s been six months already and it seems like yesterday we just brought her home from the hospital. A lot of people have teenagers or adult children and I’m sure they probably still feel this way. They say time fly’s when you’re having fun. I guess that’s the way to look at. We’re having so much fun; we don’t even realize where the first six months went to.

Now go out and have some fun!

(…and don’t forget to take a picture of it!)

I know that it’s past Christmas; however I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to make my little one look as cute as an elf! I love the tail that curves over her baby soft skin. She just makes me smile.

If I remember correctly, Pix peed on me after this shot….lol. It’s crazy what a little warmth will do when you remove a baby’s diaper!

It’s been six days already and it’s amazing that within a short amount of time you can see such significant differences. Her eyelashes have grown, her swelling has gone down a bit and her face has filled out. They say that kids grow up before your eyes. Lucky for us it’ll all be captured. Even looking back at images from day one amazes me. She’s grown so much in such a short period of time. I can’t wait to see my little girl grown up. It’s ironic however; I’d really like to see her stay tiny forever.

“Grow like the wind!”

It’s actually “RUN” like the wind, but grow fit this scenario better!

What does that mean; a fathers strength? Does it mean that I can pick up my daughter? No. It goes far beyond any mere feat of mortal physicality. It’s has deeper and stronger connotation. It means you can’t get mad when the baby wakes you up hungry at 3 am and won’t go back to sleep. It means it’s ok to stop editing her pictures to play with her before she goes to bed. It means not grossing out when she poops on your hand because you failed to wait until after she was done before removing the diaper. It means not getting frustrated when she’s fussy and “over tired”. It means being there for every need that she could possibly have. She’s yours and you love her…

The thing about a father’s strength is that like ones physical strength, it get’s stronger over time. You can do more, lift more…..and love more.

Most people want to know how these shots are pulled off. As you can see directly under the baby is a nice and soft bean bag. What you don’t see in the setup shot (as I took the picture) is dad hovering just outside of the shot with a remote trigger in hand and letting go of Pix only long enough to lean out, click the remote shutter, and lean back into the frame steadying his little bundle. If you ever attempt a shot like this, PLEAE PLEASE PLEASE be careful! Use ALL safety precautions at your disposal (including an assistant (Suzanne). You’ll see another shot like this where Pix is actually touching the ground, but thanks to the wonders of Photoshop…..she looks as though she’s completely suspended. Sometimes Photoshop is a necessity!

OMG, I LOVE THIS LITTLE GIRL SO MUCH! Life has been so hectic and crazy the last few weeks. This little six and a half pound girl came into our lives and turned the house upside down. It’s hard to imagine that something so small could cause such chaos. So far the sleep has gone from a 9 to about a 5 (on the sleep-o-meter). Every sound or peep this little one makes seems to be cause for my eyelids slamming open and my ears perking up. Oh my god little one; is it possible for you to sleep without making those cute little noises? They’re all fine and dandy at 4 p.m. in the afternoon, but at 2:30 in the morning daddy needs to sleep. I know the day will come when I miss these midnight sounds dearly. This time is fleeting and precious. For now I’ll just take every day (and night) with stride and peaceful (hahaha) enjoyment.

(She’s growing like a flower!)

I received a few questions by email and I thought it could be beneficial to others if I posted them here.

Did you study art? how long have you been painting at this level with pastels?

I studied in a design school, it was not much about drawing or painting, so I guess I had to learn by myself. I started with using "Carrés contés" in 1990 and soon switched to soft pastels. I guess I have really dedicated myself to pastels since 1998.

When drawing the boy on youtube, why did you paint on white paper?

One reason is that when painting on white paper it is easier to make sure that you cover the whole surface with pigment. If you leave the paper partly exposed, it will be affected by light in time and change colour. White paper becomes yellow and toned paper fades.

Another reason is that I quite like working on white paper provided it is Pastelmat that I am using.

Don't you use toned paper?

Yes I do sometimes. I think it is better to start with white paper, it gives you more insight for the day you start using toned paper.

Why did you make your background with two colour and not just start with face?

Covering the surface with one colour will give unity to the finished piece. The backgound colour helps me build my skin tones on top, and it doesn't prevent me from adding whatever colour I want in the background. This works on Pastelmat which accepts several layers of pastels. Depending on how you apply your pastels the successive layers will either mix or not. I think it would not be possible on regular paper without using fixative on one layer before adding the next.

Why don't you sketch the face with pencil first ?

First of all pencil and pastel don't go well together. If you draw a sketch I suggest using a dark sepia tip instead.

It is difficult to explain, I start by trying to create a background that will help me see the shapes I want to draw. It is like when you see shapes in a cloud.

After seeing your video I started doing the same. My portraits are really much nicer as far as colour is concerned, but very crooked,

Well yes of course it takes a lot of practice. My own are often crooked too, you have to be careful, looking at your portrait in a mirror will help you se your mistakes before it is too late. I think it is better to do it this way otherwise you will spend most of your time sketching and very little actually painting with pastels. Moreover your portrait will be less lively. It also helps you have a relaxed attitude towards your portrait : if it turns out wrong just start over. Don't expect each and every drawing of yours to be a masterpiece. Make many and a few will turn out fine.

For example at the moment I have two videos on youtube, but I actually attempted five or six, most of which didn't turn out right.

How can you mix colours and smooth them just with you finger tips? When I do this, my colours mix with each other, it is why I don't get the tones that I wanted and colours are not mixed nicely.

Your colours mix probably because you are using regular paper like Canson or the like. Try a paper that is specifically prepared for pastel use. The one I use on the video is called Pastelmat. I also like Pastelcard (aka La Carte Pastel) but on Pastelcard I don't blend colours with my fingers. I try not to blend at all.

I can see that many times on your portraits you use unusal skin shades. Light blue, dark purple and something between purple and gray? I dont have these tones in my pastel set, so my portraits are too much coloured in comparison with your natural colours. What should I do? Buy some more colour set? Iam using koh i noor, in Slovakia where I live it is almost the only trademark of pastels, they are quite cheap but I dont know if good enough. For example your Sennelier is about 4 times more expensive than koh i noor. I plan to buy 72 coulours Faber castell mini pastel set. Are your pastels classed soft or extrasoft?

If you are serious about pastels you need to keep buying new ones. It is good to start with a basic set, and koh i noor is just fine to experiment with.

I am not familiar with faber castell at all. I can't say if it will be an improvement over your koh i noor.

some of my pastels are soft, some less so, I even use Talens pastels on a regular basis : I think you need both kinds. It all depends on your budget : you can always make do with what you have. What would be nice is if you could find a store near you that carries several brands of pastels that you can buy individually. You could buy a handful of pastels at a time. That way you can pick specific natural colours that you lack, and you can afford to buy more expensive ones if you are only getting a couple of them at a time.

It’s funny….life that is. We take it for granted so often and rarely appreciate it for it’s true beauty. Most of us never stop to relish in the miracle of life. We go on day in and day out following the grind and practiced routine. More often than not we succumb to the inconsequential things in life that bare no true meaning on who we are or what we believe in. Regardless of where we live, what nationality we are or where are allegiance lies; one things rings evident throughout. Life is reflected upon most when we come into this world and again when we leave it. When a child is born in Bangladesh, people celebrate. When someone passes in Morocco, people morn. The emotions felt have an equal comparison to something as primitive an elementary as a smile; their universal. Life is truly a miracle. Now that I’m among the millions of individuals that already understand these words, I can truly say that there’s no greater miracle then the birth of your child. When you hear their first cry; you can’t help but to swell up with emotions. When they grab your finger for the first time, look into your eyes with innocence or fill your head with the sweet smell of “new baby” (lol), you know that there is no other explanation. Miracles DO happen. I hope that I’m able to make the best out of the gift that I’ve been given. I know with all of my heart that I’ll be a good dad. I pray however, that I’ll become a GREAT…. father.

Daddy loves you Pix!

The rules for Pixel’s 365:

1.Images must be captured daily (During the waking day)

2.I must be the photographer

3.Pixel must be in the image in some form or fashion

4.Images must post within three days (unless out of town)

5.Enjoy Life’s gift

It’s amazing how many times newborns eat. When you think about it, it makes sense. They’re growing at an astonishing rate. Their body needs to take in (and poop out) all they can to keep up with the growth rate. Their bodies and brains are maturing literally right before our eyes. I’d compare it to watching grass grow. If you just sit there and watch; it seems as though nothing is going on. Yet if you look once, then return the following week, you can see new blades that never existed before. I hope to capture every blade as it sprouts through the soil of life.

They eat, sleep, pee and poop…..and they’re pretty verbal about them all.

Eat up little girl. There’s a long road ahead and you’re going to need all of your strength.

Then I zoomed in closer. The person in the audience on the left didn't quite raise their hand in time, so the reporter took someone else's question instead. They were wrapping things up, and I guess that was the last question being asked.

So after yesterdays posting of Pixel next to Joey, I figured it was only fitting that I post an “actual” shot from her 365..lol. I remember this day like it was yesterday. In actuality it was about 2 months ago….but who’s counting? Pixel turned 4 months this past Saturday. I know that it’s only been four months, but WOW does time fly. It seems like just yesterday morning we were coming home from the hospital. I know, I know, just wait until she’s graduating from high school, or worse (better..lol) college. WHOA WHOA WHOA, hold on there! She’s growing up to fast already, slow down, relax, take a deep breath. Siiiiiigh, exhale. Until then we’ll continue to relish in her daily adventures; growing and cooing like she’s a big girl.

I saw a friend of mine last weekend that I hadn’t seen since we were seniors thinking that we understood exactly how life worked. We actually went to elementary, middle and high school together. We started talking about our families and kids (of course, what else is there…lol). She told me how hard it was for she and her husband while he was in the navy and their daughter was born. She constantly sent him videos and pictures while he was overseas serving his country. There was so much he missed; her first words, her first steps; just thinking about it again brings tears to my eyes. I can only imagine how difficult that would be. I know that sometimes in life there are things greater than you and I. I thank all of those that have taken on that burden with pride and honor to help ensure that these little footprints continue to grow.

Beauty in the eyes of a child is a wonderful thing. The reality is that EVERYTHING they see is for the first time. The door, the light, the floor, and the shirt you’re wearing; their all things that have never been see before…. ever. Imagine being in a position where you had no bias’s towards anything. No predispositions towards anyone, no displacement towards flavors; no anguish over fears. It’s hard to image that now, as we all have impressions on a barrage of items and subjects. How unfortunate. I would love to know what I know now, yet have the same innocence of a child.

….if only there were a way.

It’s checkup time! “Wait, what? You’re gonna stick a needle in my daughters leg? That’s the size of her index finger! OMG are you kidding?! HEY…be gentle with that thing! OOOOW, Ok really…I FELT THAT! OK now she’s crying. Wow, she’s crying so franticly she has TEARS streaming down her face. She’s NEVER had tears…ever!” Ok so that was dad’s internal reaction to Pixel getting her first shot. My external reaction went more like this. Talking to Pix because she was half sleep and reassuring mom that it would be ok. “It’s just a little prick; she’s sleeping so she probably won’t even feel it. Of course I’m sure, they do this all the time. Even if she cry’s a little it’s better than the alternative.” All of a sudden (Eyes bulge open as she SCREAMS). Again I speak with my internal voice, “You said that was gonna be a little prick? I’ve got a prick for you! OK go away and leave my baby alone! You evil baby nurse!”

Moral of the story don’t make my baby cry with big needles….dad doesn’t like it. Ok that’s not really the moral of the story, more like just stating the facts.

Here are pictures of the completely fun evening on the Seth's Big Fat Broadway Cruise. Here are pictures from the Broadway Stars Q&A Session (Question & Answer) with Seth Rudetsky, Christine Pedi, and Tony Award Winners Lillias White and Beth Leavel. What a fun evening and funny as heck! Event on Wednesday February 19th, 2020. On board the Celebrity Equinox for Seth's Big Fat Broadway Cruise from February 15th to the 22nd, 2020. The itinerary includes stops in San Juan (Puerto Rico), Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas (US Virgin Islands), Tortola (British Virgin Islands), Nassau (Bahamas) before returning to Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale, Florida). The best part is that we are on Seth's Big Fat Broadway Cruise again!

"Daddy, I'm in the place of eternal milk again! I love this place! Everywhere I look (not that I have total control of my neck yet) I see nothing but MILK! What more could a girl ask for. When my tummy is full with all of the milk I can drink, I'm going to have some more! Pssssss, tell mommy I said thank you for making me go to sleep. Had I know that she was escorting me to the land of everlasting milk, I wouldn't have been so fussy......ahhhhhhhh." (Milk mustache)

They're so peaceful when they sleep. Just laying there; angelic in all their glory. It makes the times when she’s not so angelic pale by comparison. All of the moments that aren’t so glorious just seem fleeting when coupled next to moments such as these. Daily; I cover her in kisses as she squirms from side to side, and I tell her that I love her so much. I know that she doesn’t have any idea what her mommy and daddy are saying right now, however one day she will, and one day she’ll understand what that means.

I say “Sweet Dreams”; not meant in just the here and now sense but overall in life as a whole. You want the best for your kids. You want them to have the luxuries and opportunities that you didn’t. You hope that the dreams and aspirations that they develop and aspire too can one day be reached without too much heartache. I don’t know what the world holds for this little girl, however my anticipation grows daily by leaps and bounds; hoping to see every one of her dreams come true.

“Sweet Dreams Pixel, Daddy loves you…”

I found this Trivial Pursuit card in the bottom of a hedgerow during a long walk. I spotted it but carried on walking. Then I decided to go back and pick it up to see if the questions and answers held any cosmic significance for me. I'm not sure they do...note how old this must be, as it refers to Princess Diana as if she is still alive...

OK I’ve done it. I’ve given back to society..lol. I’ve helped to perpetuate the continuation of the human race! One of the questions that I had prior to filling out the birth certificate was in regards to the race. I was very curious to know and understand what would be asked for as far as Pixel’s race selection. You’ve all seen the forms where you’re asked for race; some say CHOOSE ONE. Well as you can tell ONE wasn’t really an option for this little girl. Fortunately for the individual helping to fill out the paperwork the option to select multiple races in now an option. WOOHOOO! Most of us now days are mixed with at least more than one race. The world is a melting pot (at least my part of it anyways…lol). I think it’s pretty moronic to have a government document expressing that you chose one. I was told once to chose the option that best represents me……..I left them ALL blank..lol. If you can’t document me properly, don’t document me at all!

I’ll teach my daughter to question everything that doesn’t make sense. That’s how we learn…..right?!
