Punta Mujeres is a pretty and typical coastal village in the northern part of Lanzarote (Canary Islands, Spain): it extends over several volcanic headlands and boasts numerous natural pools and lagoons created by the arrival of the Monte Corona volcano into the sea.

Punta Planka cape, Croatian coast

Punta de Jandía is located at the southern tip of Fuerteventura, one of Spain’s Canary Islands, near the northwestern coast of Africa. The region is defined by its arid, wild landscape, featuring rugged cliffs, pristine white-sand beaches, and protected areas within the Jandía Natural Park. The climate is subtropical desert, with mild year-round temperatures, scarce rainfall, and constant winds, making it ideal for water sports like surfing.

Visible in the photo is the small village of Playa el Puertito, a modest coastal settlement that retains its traditional charm, with humble houses and a peaceful atmosphere. Nestled near the area, it reflects a simple way of life tied to the sea, contrasting beautifully with the untamed natural surroundings.

Trabocco Punta Aderci, Abruzzo, Italy

The famous Trabocco at Punta Aderci in Italy on a beautiful summer day. These fishermen's cottages, trabocco's, stand on stilts in the sea and are still used for fishing, sometimes there is also a restaurant. You will find several in the Adriatic Sea along the coast of the Abruzzo.

The highest peak of Monte Rosa massif, facing the valley of River Sesia, takes the name of Giovanni Gnifetti, the priest from Alagna Valsesia that led the team of the first ascent to the summit, on the 9th of August of 1842.

On the Swiss side the peak is still called Signalkuppe, the summit of the signal, because of a huge monolith once present on the top ridge. The rock formation was removed by the use of explosif in 1895, to flatten the ridge and build Rifugio Regina Margherita, the highest mountain hut in Europe. The rifugio is dedicated to the queen (regina) of Italy with the same name. Margherita reached the summit of Punta Gnifetti after the construction of the hut, for its official inauguration.

The original hut has then been destroyed by a fire caused by lightning in the late 70s of the last century. A new, larger hut, serving also as an observatory for astronomical research, has been ultimated in 1980.

If you zoom in the photo, you can see the large, flat building on the top.
