“Though it was the end of February, the day was a lazy sort of cold. The sun slipped through the cloud in bursts, reminding the landscape that it was still there, prodding snow piles to relax into puddles and stirring sleeping seeds under the ground.”

To follow: an attempt to prompt a civil (hopefully productive) dialogue about a subject central to photography, most especially, street photography.

I took this photo from a vantage point on the cliff high above the beach. I like a number of things about the photo, the geometry formed by the rocks and their shadows, the pattern formed by the footprints in the sand, the pseudo drone-like aerial perspective, the edge to edge warm monochrome brown colour and most of all the juxtaposition of the dog and the suntanning woman. For me there is a subtle humour to the photo and I chose the title specifically to capitalize on that. However, I knew when I made the photo that there would be some who adamantly believe the photo is an invasion of another person's privacy and that I should not have taken it much less post it in a public forum.

I believe I could make cogent arguments both pro and con regarding this matter (I have thought it through many times and I revisit my thinking any time I photograph people on the street and in public places). I have drawn a personal 'line in the sand' on when and under what circumstances I can photograph people in public (and more importantly when I can't) but I am hard pressed to put into words exactly how I make that decision that will help inform others. I would never knowingly take or subsequently post a photo that I think could embarass/demean/ridicule or hurt in any way the person/people in the photo. I also, in my 'about' section on Flickr, have made a promise to anyone who recognizes themself, family members or friends in my photos to take down any picture they are in immediately on request - no explanation required. Please comment below (in a civil and thoughtful manner) what your thoughts are on the issue. I am very interested in deepening my understanding and improving my approach to photographing people on the street and in public places generally.

A second photo of the same scene is in the first comment box below.

The prompt was "glass of water" and I didn't like the static image so I decided to have some fun with it. Blowing bubbles at 7:30 am with a slight breeze, and the temperature around 28 degrees Fahrenheit was a bit of a challenge. After 10 minutes of trying my light disappeared, my hands were frozen and my lens was in need of a cleaning. This is the most interesting shot and now it's time to move on with my day.

I don't like carbonated beverages so this is the closest to bubbly water that I will drink. Once again, I feel privileged and grateful to have access to clean drinking water.

Prompt: “ A watercolor print of a nostalgic old truck under a large tree + summer, in the style Thomas Schwaller + Sergei Kurbatov + Andy Evansen, a detailed natural scene and natural colors, wide view --ar 12:12 --style raw --v 5.1 “

Post-processing in Photoshop included enlarging, sharpening and some artistic effect layers (cutout, dry brush and sponge). I then added a Stylize- Find Edges layer to the composite and reduced the opacity in multiply mode. A watercolor paper texture was then embedded into the image to finish the composition.

Another from my February stay at this fabulous lighthouse in County Donegal, Ireland. What lovely light!

The 1811 wreck of HMS Saldanha with 250 lives lost prompted the building of the first lighthouse here. The only survivor was the ship's parrot. The fellow who gave us the lighthouse tour said it later died after being given too much poitin - that's the home-made whiskey in Ireland.

“Anubis is associated with the mummification and protection of the dead for their journeys through Denver International Airport to the afterlife. He is usually portrayed as being half human and half jackal, and holding a metal detector in his hand ... Anubis is employed by the Department of Homeland Security to examine the hearts of all travellers to make sure they have not exceeded the weight limit for psychological baggage ... He is also shown frisking mummies and confiscating firearms and other contraband. It doesn't take much to tip the scales in favour of a dead body cavity search or an afterlifetime travel ban.”

Artist Maurizio Cattelan made an art piece called ' Comedian'

The work, of which three versions were made, consists of a fresh banana attached to a wall with a piece of duct tape.

After the work was sold at the Art Basel art fair, one banana was eaten by Georgian-American performance artist David Datuna who bought it for $120,000.

Another version of the artwork in Seoul's Leeum Museum of Art was eaten for free by a student called Noh Huyn-soo, he said he was hungry,

The last one was bought and eaten by Justin Sun after he bought it for $6.2 million

A 4th virtual banana was eaten in SL by me :)

Prompt: chenonceau chateau late day sun shinig.

The Château de Chenonceau (French: [ʃɑto də ʃənɔ̃so]) is a French château spanning the river Cher, near the small village of Chenonceaux, Indre-et-Loire, Centre-Val de Loire. It is one of the best-known châteaux of the Loire Valley. The estate of Chenonceau is first mentioned in writing in the 11th century. The current château was built in 1514–1522 on the foundations of an old mill and was later extended to span the river. The bridge over the river was built (1556–1559) to designs by the French Renaissance architect Philibert de l'Orme, and the gallery on the bridge, built from 1570 to 1576 to designs by Jean Bullant.
