Monarch of the Plains, by sculptor Stephen C. Leblanc, was dedicated in the plaza in front of Balch Fieldhouse and Folsom Folsom Field, on October 27, 1995.
Balch Fieldhouse was officially opened in 1937, then just known as the CU Fieldhouse. The building, covering 37,050 square feet and made primarily of stone and concrete, was built at a cost of $174,500. In 1976-77, the building's name was changed to Balch Fieldhouse, in honor of Roland "Doc" E. Balch, a long-time member of the athletic and physical education departments and coach of the swimming team from 1949-61. Over the years, it has served as the home to the men's and women's basketball teams, as well as gymnastics, indoor track and wrestling.

2021 official backpack, Yucca swim fins (Pistachio color?), looks like Ecotric electric bike. This year, the trunks were black and backpacks gray. Previous year, red, orange. The Junior Lifeguard program enrolls at least 1,500 kids every year and develops candidates for lifeguarding.
Thanks to this image's unexpected popularity, i posted a slightly better edited version, visible on my Newport Beach album.

Folsom Field opened on October 11, 1924 and has been the home of the Colorado Buffaloes football team ever since. Originally known as Colorado Stadium, it was renamed in 1944, following the death of legendary coach, Fred Folsom.
When it originally opened, the horseshoe-shaped stadium had a capacity of 26,000. In 1956, a major expansion raised the height of the stadium, increasing capacity to 45,000. In 1967, 6,000 more seats were added witht he removal of the running track. In 1968, a six-level press box was added to the top of the west side grandstand. Renovations continued in 1976 when the old, rickety wooden bleachers were replaced with aluminum ones, raising the capacity to 52,005. In 2003, suites and club seating were added to the east side of the stadium, raising the capacity to 53,750.
In addition to football, the university's graduation commencement is held at Folsom every May. On Memorial Day, it serves as the finish of the Bolder Boulder, the fourth largest road race in the world. For many years, Boulder's Fourth of July celebration has been held at Folsom Stadium. It has also been the home of concerts by legendary musicians such as the Rolling Stones and the Dave Matthews Band.

This sculptural bust of Fred Folsom, located outside Folsom Field, was commissioned by fred Folson Jr, sculpted by Fred Folsom III, and dedicated in 2004. Fred Folsom (1873-1944) was named the head football coach of the University of Colorado in 1895. That year, he coached CU to the first of three consecutive championships and during his three terms as coach, CU won ten championships. Folsom was a CU Law graduate, Professor of Law from 1905-1942 and a practicing attorney. He served as a Major in the Army in World War I. During his tenure counsel for the University, he arranged for the financing of the stadium.

Macky Auditorium, located on the campus of CU-Boulder at 17th & University Avenue, is a concert and entertainment hall that first opened its doors in 1923, thirteen years after construction had commenced. Funded by and named after Andrew J. Macky, a prominent local businessowner and President of the First National Bank, it wasn't completed until after his death. Designed by architects Gove and Walsh, the building features a variety of architectural elements from various buildings around the globe that President Baker, CU’s president at the turn of the century, admired. The design of the auditorium is primarily Neo-Gothic, with the primary materials being sandstone and red tile, like the rest of campus. The result is a unique building, with two large towers and sprawling ivy, that sets itself apart from the rest of the CU campus.
Macky is the home of two departments both in the College of Music, the Jazz Studies Department and the Choral Department, and it houses an art gallery which is open Wednesdays, and to patrons during performances. A wide range of entertainers perform at Macky each year, from Phillip Glass to Wilco. The hall houses almost all performances by the Boulder Philharmonic, the Artist Series, and the CU Opera. Macky is also the home of many lectures including the famous Conference on World Affairs held at CU each spring.

The Desk Of Director :
All the studies and surveys made all over world show a huge gap between supply and demand of trained manpower all over the world in Hospitality Industry. There are many reasons behind it which may be focused somewhere else, but the point convinced us to step into the field for educating the youth as per the need of the industry and providing the young generation with right career option
We, a group, closely associated with hospitality Industry decided to devote our time and share our experience for drawing the attention of the youth to this career option and to provide the industry well groomed, skilled manpower.
Hospitality is the field where one will get ample opportunity of enjoying the life, beside satisfying the need of guests (which is really a tough job, and obviously not cup of tea for every one) with a smile on leap, only if he or she is well trained and mentally prepared to face the hassels of the job. ... And in three Years of Bsc degree, beside giving the students technical knowledge, we show them those corners of their profession and holding their hands tight, we make them mentally prepared, so that, tomorrow in industry, their attitude may make the tough situation easy and they dont run away.
Our Hotel Management courses and various activities aim to develop technical and managerial skills among our students and grow love and attraction for the profession.
Our highly qualified faculty pool share their knowledge with students, not for the sake of profession only, but they share their rich experiences with them to keep them uptodate about the facts and figures and present scenario of the industry.
We believe our success lies in the success of our students. We wish a height of sucess for them from where they can set examples for others.
For social cause, we offer Diploma (UGC recognised) to one reallly financially backward student in each batch. We really mean it when we utter “ Our Students Glitter .... and so we boast

Woodbury Hall was originally constructed in 1890 just east of Old Main as a men's dormitory. The first building on campus to have electricity, steam heat and hot and cold running water, Woodbury contained the most advanced creature comforts of the day.
At various times, Woodbury housed the Offices of the Extension Services, the School of Business, Student Personnel Services Department and the Center for Community Services prior to its role today as the site of a variety of programs. During the flu epidemic of 1918, it even found use as a morgue. It has been remodeled several times, and in 1988 a first-floor classroom was renovated in Victorian style.

nrhp # 76000233- U.S.S. MASSACHUSETTS- In its first year open to the public, more than 250,000 visitors explored the historic vessel, USS Massachusetts. Soon after, the battleship was recognized as the official memorial to Massachusetts citizens who gave their lives in World War II (and later, the Persian Gulf War), and her interior spaces were reconfigured to accommodate exhibits.
In 1972, the USS Lionfish, a Second World War-era attack submarine, joined the battleship for public display. Also that year, the Nautical Nights overnight camping program commenced as a model program, enrolling more than 500,000 youths to date. The following year, the USS Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr., a Gearing-class destroyer, was added to the fleet and immediately designated as the Commonwealth’s official memorial to the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
Soon after, the Mayor of Fall River christened this important site “Battleship Cove”. In 1975 Tin Can Sailors, Inc., a national organization of 24,000 destroyer veterans, was founded at Battleship Cove.
The year 1984 included the addition of a T-28 Trojan. This aircraft served as a US trainer, and also served in the VNAF South Vietnam Air Force, reflecting immigrants in the Commonwealth who had served in the Vietnamese armed forces. A new gift shop helped fuel the organization’s growth. In 1985, the Commonwealth awarded a $2.5 million grant for the preservation of the Kennedy, and in that same year the National Park Service designated the Massachusetts, the Lionfish, and PT-796 as National Historic Landmarks. Subsequently, both the Kennedy and PT-617 received NHL status, giving Battleship Cove the highest concentration of such south of Boston. Presently comprising eight vessels, the Battleship Cove fleet is the largest and most diverse collection of historic naval ships in the world.

The Old Main was completed on April 18, 1876, a few months before Colorado became a state. When the University of Colorado opened, it barely filled Old Main. The entire university was housed there, including classrooms. The first CU president, Joseph Sewall, lived with his family in the basement of the Old Main until the President’s House was constructed in 1884.
Although plans were made to demolish Old Main in the 1920s, a full structural reconstruction was made instead. In the 1980s it was refurbished from top to bottom. An elevator was installed, the old chapel was restored, and the CU Heritage Center was opened on the third floor. The Heritage Center portrays the university's history through photographs, displays, and changing exhibits. Appropriately, what was once CU's first collegiate department, now the College of Arts and Sciences, also has its offices in Old Main.

Operating every weekday, the LUM 5th Quarter Summer Learning Program enrolled 74 students this year. Alongside nutritious meals, participants are engaging in diverse activities including learning sessions, reading initiatives, and recreational outings. Special guest presenters spark interests in science, fitness, and literature, providing a comprehensive educational experience.
Summer break presents a significant challenge for low-income families, as the "summer slide"—the loss of academic knowledge—disproportionately affects children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. To monitor this, LUM administers pretest and posttest literacy assessments to the Pre-K through 5th grade students in the LUM 5th Quarter Summer Learning Program (pictured). Last summer's results were very encouraging, showing that the program successfully prevented the summer slide for all participants, with students not only maintaining proficiency but also gaining knowledge. LUM is optimistic about achieving similar positive outcomes this summer, ensuring educational continuity and growth.
Your support of the LUM 5th Quarter Summer Learning Program demonstrates our commitment to our students' potential. Thank you for believing in LUM and contributing to our community's growth and success. For more ways to support us, visit our website or email Kristi Hogue at khogue@LUMserve.org.
