Yesterday we had a Halloween day in Preschool! We talked about why we celebrate Halloween, why we dress up and why we carve pumpkins (the children found it very funny that people used to carve swedes). We talked about how many pumpkins get wasted every year and thought about how we could use all of the pumpkin so we didn't throw it away and waste it. The adults cut open the pumpkins and let the children scoop out all of the seeds and flesh. We decided to roast the seeds in olive oil and then ate them at snack time (they were delicious!) We also roasted the flesh and when it had cooled down we mixed it with oats, honey, water and vanilla extract and made our very own pumpkin pie, which the children enjoyed eating at the end of the day!

Preschool - Montessori based program that teaches pre-K children basic skills, such as counting, colors, letter recognition, and much more, as well as basic life skills and skills they will need in school, such as how to follow directions, use scissors, personal space, how to clean up after activities, and much more.

AfterSchool: We pick up children from their school and bring them to our facility where we do snack, reading time, homework, and fun learning activities until their parents are able to come pick them up. They may also add a Taekwondo program to this.

Ready for Grandparents' Day at preschool.

Keeping with the tradition of celebrating festivals with gaiety and apprising little Prideens of our rich culture and heritage, the auspicious festival of Baisakhi was celebrated across all branches of Mother’s Pride with great fun and fervor. Our Prideens looked adorable dressed in colourful Punjabi attires. The branches were beautifully decorated depicting the beauty of the harvest season. Punjabi folk songs echoed in every corner of every branch setting the mood of festivity. The day began with a special assembly where the relevance of the festival was shared with the children. Music and dance further added to the excitement.

It's serious business.

In this photo taken Monday, Aug. 27, 2018, Astrid Kozlen, left, and Vincent Seeborn, right, talk with another toddler at a splash bin in the playground at the Wallingford Child Care Center in Seattle. A dire workforce crisis in a booming U.S. economy is forcing many in the child care industry to turn to business tactics more closely resembling Wall Street than Sesame Street. Non-compete and "hold-harmless" legal agreements, college tuition incentives for workers and steep waiting-list fees for parents are fast becoming the norm. (AP Photo/Elaine Thompson)
