The Pachamanca is a feast baked in the ground. Layers of grass, hot rocks/coals, food and insulating layers of cloth and dirt cook all the marinated meat and potatos. Took about 45 min for our huge feast!
Brooklyn.
Grabbed some pie after the NYC Film Food Fest Pizza Night screenings in the parking lot next door.
I wish I could settle on what the Famous Original A is. At its heart it HAS to have Italian fennel sausage (hunk-a-chunks of it) and onion. In the past THAT alone has served as an FOA. But then I started adding Mike's Hot Honey to it. Last night, I added shishito peppers. It's basically evolving into "pizza supreme with MHH."
What makes this "frozen-pizza style"? Well, I diced all the toppings—onion, green pepper, and pepperoni. Each bite has every topping. I'm not sure I actually like that aspect, but I wanted to see what dicing the toppings would be like.
We have a lot of family in town for a weekend of get togethers. Last night we all met for Pizza at Benny's Pizza in Marysville. My uncle suggested the location, where we could all dine out on their patio. Unfortunately, since it was such a beautiful Friday evening, a lot of folks had the same idea. It took awhile to get a table. There was, however, an area where we could still sit and visit, and order drinks. My cute nephew (and godson) is seen here draining his glass! I loved capturing his twinkling eyes; for many years his was an impossible photo to get...just hated having his picture taken. He is a cutie...and the pizza was great when we finally got it! Think I will have our leftover barbecued chicken pizza for breakfast!
Ceviche is citrus-marinated seafood salad, where the citrus cooks the raw fish. The cerviche leftover "juice" is known (sold) as the "milk of the Tiger" because it's so strong (and sour!)
On Facebook, I'm part of a group called the "Serious Eats Water Cooler." It's basically a bunch of people who met as community members of SE and then took to FB for off-topic (non-food) conversation. Anyway, late last year, a bunch of us on the Cooler did a food exchange. I got this as part of my package from a Coolerino in Texas. Figured these would be good on a pepperoni pizza. I was not wrong. The sweetness of the sugar of the candied jalapeños cuts both their own heat and the smokiness of the pepperoni I used. Normally I would have put on a drizzle of Mike's Hot Honey, but this obivates it.
..if in doubt on what's in your plate, it's either potatoes (there's hundreds of varieties) or corn :P
Chef Nacho preparing goodies and flaming the heck out of the stir fry alpaca dish (Lomo Saltado of Alpaca)!
Not horrible for a first attempt. It was a bit too oily, though. I enjoy pan pizzas, but I don't know if I could take the gut-bomb that they are on a regular basis.
Our annual day-after-Christmas Pizza night at my sister's house. I began to take this photo when the room was full of people, but before I could get the shot, most of them had left! Aaurgh! You'll have to look at the rest of the set to see who was in attendance.
Another 7 Days has ended! It was sooo much fun! See you all in the Spring!
