A couple of miles up the coast from Pigeon Point is my favorite place on the California Coast, Pescadero State Beach.
Montana Rail Link’s gas train has arrived at Pipeline on the east side of Thompson Falls, Montana, as the morning fog burns off at sunrise on October 3, 2021.
Something from Iceland again. I took a picture of a pipeline here which I am pretty sure transports good stuff (geothermal energy).
It was captured from a house right off the banzai pipeline nearing sunset time. It’s on the backdoor side of pipe. Thanks for looking.
Surf photography is by far my favorite. It allows me to combine my love of the outdoors, action, the ocean, and photography all into one. I can easily spend the entire day from early morning until sunset watching the waves.

Now into the early afternoon of October 26, 2024 the Day Gas is slightly behind schedule with MRL 4400/4406 on the point now starting the journey eastward back to Missoula.
I stopped near Fairbanks for a look at the Alaska Pipeline on it's way south. The line runs 800 miles from Prudhoe Bay to the Valdez Marine Terminal where the crude oil is transferred to tankers. An impressive engineering feat thru challenging terrain and varying climates.
Thanks for your Stop to look. Always appreciated!

Just another simple shot l like from this location at the west end of the run af pipeline. The warm evening light illuminates Montana Rail Link 'night gas' train with SD70ACes 4406 and 4408 (both built new for the road in Apr. 2014) as they work the terminal at Pipeline in this view looking east from the private crossing at MP 29.4 on the 4th Sub just east of Thompson Falls. They have just brought a trainload of refined petroleum products 111 miles from Missoula via the 4th and 10th Subs and after swapping loads for empties here the Phillips66 facility they will start back east.
These railfan favorite gas trains are the only trains on this end of the railroad anymore that are guaranteed to run with blue power. Strictly an intra-MRL operation, these trains came into being in 1995 when a gap was created in the 40 yr old and 531 mile long Yellowstone Pipeline when the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribe chose not to renew the pipeline company's lease of 21 miles of right of way across their Flathead Indian Reservation. Pipes bringing water from the Blackwater Reservoir to the hydroelectric power station in Kinlochleven.
When the Pipeline wave on the North Shore of Oahu gets in the mood, you better know what you are doing. It was 15 to 20 foot this day, look at the size of the 6 foot long humans on the top of the wave for comparison. My days on the World Surf Tour were full of excitement, but this day was close to the best.
