Here’s my Aileen Doll Pico Pla Violet doll with one of my most intensive pastel blush work I’ve done in my life. Usually I stick to a limited colour palette and focus on the face but I definitely didn’t want that for this doll.

I used reds, pinks, blues, purple, and white pastel for this and it was a big learning curve to learning how things react when blended together and what happens when you spray MSC onto it. It was also my first try making pastel work look opaque cuz usually when I blush I try to make it as subtle as possible.

But I’m really proud of the final result and how nicely it all ties together on the doll.

The Pico House is a historic old Los Angeles hotel built by Pio Pico who was the Last Mexican Governor of California...... Construction was finished for the three story 33-room Italianate style hotel in 1870, and at the time it was the most extravagant and lavish hotel in Southern California.

The hotel didn't have a lot of glory years as Pio Pico started having financial troubles and lost the hotel to the bank.........In the ensuing years the building fell into decline until it was given to the State of California in 1953....... now restored and part of the El Pueblo de Los Angeles State Historic Monument this building is now listed as a California Historical Landmark and is occasionally used for various events and art exhibits

Coastal cliffs near Monte. Criação Velha, Pico Island, Azores. View to S.

(WWF ecoregion PA0403)

Good example of a young coast line with mostly angular blocks af basaltic lava. Near-vertical cliff-forming joints in heavy lava flows. The coastal precipice grows ever higher as the cliffs collapse and recede. Rounded boulders in the middle distance indicate higher sea levels in the past. Extremely high cliffs after prolonged periods of recession may be found on the NE coast of Pico Island and on the N coast of São Jorge Island.

The Mediterranean light-green fleshy-leaved Crithmum maritimum with yellowish flowers in the near and mid distance grows in crevasses and on sandy soils, always close to the coast, able to withstand salt spray.

Pico do Arieiro, at 1818 meters high (5965 feet), is the Madeira Island's third highest peak. The footpath northwards towards Pico Ruivo (highest mountain in the island) is an important tourist attraction, with a daily average of 1000 tourists trekking on it.

Ropy lava (pahoehoe lava) in crescent shaped layers, which indicate a flow direction TOWARDS the viewer. The original volcanic centers from which these flows emanated are today completely eroded and submerged between Pico and Faial Islands. A large submarine crater of more than 2 km diameter is located halfway between the two islands.

Hello guys, I'm back from nearly 2 weeks in Dominican Republic that I traveled by car from Santo Domingo. I visited the central mountains, then the north coast, the Samana peninsula, and to finish the south east of the island. More to follow.

These were taken during the second day of the hike to el Pico Duarte, the highest peak in Caribbean. I was with a american female hiker from Texas. We woke up at 4:00am and started at 4:30 our ascent to the summit. It took us approx 1h30 to get on top. Fortunately for us, the weather cooperated and had a nice clear sunrise! The feeling was great! More photos to come.

All photos were taken with Canon EOS 6D + Tamron 17-35mm.

Azores, Pico mountain. Officially a dead volcano, but very hot smoke pours out of holes everywhere, heating the rocks. Quite frightening...

Pico Ruivo is the highest peak on the Madeira Islands. It can be reached only by foot, usually either from Pico do Arieiro (3rd highest) after a strenuous hike, or from Achada do Teixeira with a shorter, easier trail. There is an additional trail leading west to Encumeada. Just below the summit is a hut offering simple accommodation and drinks.

Pico Ruivo is 1862 meters (6107 ft) high and provides some of the most incredible views of the island from coast to coast, but unpredictable weather conditions can make it quite dangerous.

It took us a few hours to walk from Pico do Arieiro to Pico Ruivo; sometimes quite strenuous mountain trek, we chose longer path over the peaks - and were trying not to think of the journey back :-) ...

(Wikipedia)

My homemade Pico de Gallo. I don't care for peppers, so I omitted them completely. Instead, I used extra tomatoes, plus celery and hot sauce. It came out pretty well.
