2016 Photo Challenge
Week 42
Outdoor Tiny Planets
Wanted to capture something related to farming since in Iowa I'm surrounded by them.
Picture taken and edited on my iPhone.
I liked this one the most because of the silloutte the background gives the hummingbird. Man those things are FAST!
No, not really. Roma has free run of the house at all times. However, I was photographing this gate for the Photochallenge.org group, the topic for which is B&W - Barrier, when Roma wandered into the scene and provided me with a much more interesting shot than the gate alone would have been. I made this gate from rough weathered wood many years ago, when we had need for a gate between the kitchen and the rest of the house, but this is the first time in probably 30 years that it has been closed, which I'm sure accounts for the bewildered look on Roma's face.
It's summer here in Melbourne and water sports are always a popular outdoor activity. I chose to head down to St. Kilda to get a few shots of kite surfers, they're amazing
I had decided I wanted a beach shot as soon as I saw the challenge, nothing says keeping cool more than the beach

But I wanted to do a natural light photo of the beautiful daisies at my balcony and so I waited a long time for some rare rays of the sun. Finally I got it....!

2016 Challenge, Week 51: Holiday Wishes
A few years ago, we had the opportunity to live in Russia for several months. During our time there, we met a very talented artist. Her specialty was painting nesting dolls. She painted this set for us at Christmas time.
Season Greetings to all, may each of us be kinder and gentler to others in the upcoming year.
