Gurley District School, Wayne County, NC; ca 1900-1905. Pictured is a derelict former one-room school house in the Gurley District of Buck Swamp Township in Wayne County. There is no ID label. Hand written on the back of the mounting card: “Old school house representing conditions prior to 1900. This house was in Gurley Dist., Buck Swamp Township.” Buck Swamp Township is located in northwest Wayne County. The Gurley Store community is located in western Wayne County between Little River and Nahunta Swamp.
