The SOBC is running part time duties these days, seeming her damaged propellar led to severe engine damage. Normally she would run on all 4 engines, but lately she had to run on 3 engines and at a reduced speed. She even had to alter course to avoid travelling through Active Pass numerous times via Boundary Pass, due to the Tidal currents being two strong for the ferry to handle. This of course lengthened the travel time, and in one instance, it took 4 hours to go from Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen. The Queen of Vancouver gets to run in her spot for most of the time, but the SOBC will still be used during the busy days (Sundays and Fridays) as the extra boat out of Tsawwassen instead of the main boat. It will be months until she has fully recovered from this.

During this evening, the Blikopeners of the Stedelijk (young people with part-time jobs in the museum) examine the thin line dividing an original from a reproduction. Young musicians will cover Shocking Blue’s “Venus” (the Stedelijk was the background for the music video); photocopiers make it possible for everyone to determine the circulation of a work by Piet Parra; a continuous experiment examines the survival of long stories that are passed on orally; and there is a masterclass to answer the question whether art can be practiced anywhere and by anyone by following instructions. In addition, artists and employees of the Stedelijk give short talks to describe how reproductions influence their work. A selection of reinterpretations, odes, and appropriations in contemporary and video art will be on display throughout the building.
On Thursday, August 27, Stevenson University’s Office of Career services held a Part-time Job Fair. During the fair, students were able to network with a diverse group of local employers and Stevenson faculty and staff to learn about a variety of job opportunities.
Faculty and staff who were nominated for a Bravo Award were thanked during a special luncheon April 4. Students could nominate an employee who has impacted their life for the award.
This is a large push to help remind our class of 1975 that we have a re-union in October. I never took down Halloween in my garage from last year because my brain is going ….WHY. Time goes by so fast anymore. By the time I put it away I’ll have to put it back out. It took me until it got warm to take down Christmas lights. So if you are even a little bit like me, you know it is almost October and time for our reunion. This is just something I can do to help promote the event. Teresa Fite Goodale is heading the event up. If you ever want to be taken for granted try to run an event! Sometimes people think invites are supposed to show up out of nowhere like a person in charge of them somewhere is watching them move from house to house their entire lives. If they don’t get an invite I have heard people actually complain. I would have come but why didn’t I get an invite. Well, we get older. People drop off the face of the earth with old mailing lists in their secret bag. You have basically never told anyone that was on the Student Council your new address. You really want privacy but want to be invited to things. Or you aren’t on facebook. There is no rule that says everyone has to Facebook. Face it some of us can’t stand each other but most of us try! Especially our class of 1975! You don’t have to sit with anyone you don’t like. You have to share this information because I have blocked some people and know we are not all on the same friend’s list. Then they have to be contacted old school, pot luck style. So those of us on Facebook can't take for granted what I have found out doing our photos. Probably %50 of us are still not computer oriented. Some don’t even have computers. Lots of those that do have computers hate emails and Facebook. So get out the word any way you can and rattle some cages. Send Teresa any updates you have for yourself and others, because it’s all HER fault if you don’t get invited!

I have another push. Curt Fowler and I have a cool Photo Group we call South Rowan Photo Group. www.facebook.com/groups/srphotogroup/
You don’t have to be from The South Rowan area. We concentrate on Photography and Video. We would like for you to join the group especially if you are taking a lot of photos. Lots of you have cool interesting lives and we want to see how others live. It is also nice to go to one place and see photos of beautiful people and places in one place without having to surf 1,000 profiles. Sometimes one of us may give a critique of a very sentimental photo only because many of us have spent thousands of dollars and many years of our lives in the Dark Room and learning the new Digital techniques. Many of us need photo advice, especially me! None of us know everything about this new technology but I have invited members that are really close to it and are kind enough to offer help. You don’t have to be a pro. We just ask you participate. We have 200 members and out of that 30 of us consistently like to see articles and view each other’s work. I’d like to increase the shares. That means sometimes in your computer world you take an extra step and share your photo to our group. www.facebook.com/groups/srphotogroup/
I am getting ready to get busy with some travel and am getting spread a little thin. So I need a little help. Our group has many seasoned professionals from all over the world that have published books, make a full-time living with photography and a part-time living. Some are in The Broadcast news business. We have award winners and we have people connected to the movie world. The I-Phone photos are getting good enough that many of us can’t tell the difference from what camera took the photo. Many of our seasoned photographers love to use their phone cameras. Here is the link. It may take us a few days to get to the invite because I also scan the group for spammers. Thanks, Shane www.facebook.com/groups/srphotogroup/

The venerable Ben former owner of Recycle Bikes and now part time employee of Tri Sport helping me press the head tube cups on my wife's Soma Rush.
Should be done in a couple of weeks, just a few more parts to order. Ben even kicked down a BB and Sugino cranks, chainring, and seatpost. Thanks Ben!

Java is very....very did I mention VERY excited about the upcoming job that he has secured this weekend helping Mr. E. Bunny Esq. (more affectionatly known by friends and fans as " The Easter Bunny" or "Bugs") in bringing "Easter Greats" and "Chocolate Treats" to all. Java has been training very...very did I mention VERY hard for his new part time job (only, once a year but the pay is good!) If he doesn't make it to your house in person (or dog) this weekend .... I know he will be wishing everyone a HAPPY EASTER!
-Who are you?
I’m Lauren(@sharp-force-trauma), I work part time as a receptionist for student accommodation, and spend the rest of my time boxing.
-What do you identify as?
I identify as queer, I find it so much simpler to describe myself as that than breaking my sexual and romantic attraction into different categories. Being LGBT gets easier as I’ve got older and found more LGBT people to be around; when you’re in school, you can’t be fully out or out at all. There’s still a lot of issues surrounding the LGBT community, there’s still homophobia and there’s still divide in the actual community towards bisexuals, asexuals, and trans people. I’m glad I can be openly queer, I don’t feel the same fear I did as a teenager to be who I am, but there is always that worry of being rejected from the community when I’m in a heterosexual relationship’
My friend Lanny has been encouraging me to do a bit of part time work in a local metallurgical laboratory since I supervised the maintenance staff in a lab before I retired 13 years ago.
I spent the day today installing a rebuild kit into this sample polishing apparatus. I shot the photos with the idea that they would aid in the reassembly since I had never before seen one of these things but then it hit me. After I finish this one, there are two more to do and, if necessary, I can look at another one to see how to put the other one back together. Either that or we throw them all in the scrap bin.
