Each bend of their branches is like poetry in motion, reflecting the life and dynamics that flow in nature.
One person’s garbage is another person’s treasure. The Keys are littered with abandoned boats. I came upon this one near our home. The Coast Guard refers to these as “derelict” or “abandoned” vessels. The government’s website has a definition for the two: ‘“Derelict” frequently refers to vessels that are dilapidated with an identifiable owner, while “abandoned” vessels are those where the owner is unknown or has surrendered rights of ownership. Vessels become abandoned and derelict for many reasons.’
I’m not sure why they stay sitting as an attractive nuisance without being removed by the authorities but it gives me another photo backdrop. I need to get back out here on a starry night. Until then Tracey is my Siren.
To see one of these images alone would give no sense of scale: this is the view from the roots-end far on the opposite side of the jungle valley. There is a stream running below about halfway down this horizontal trunk, but walking underneath, I couldn't reach the trunk.
Did this yesterday, I was out with Frank and Dennis, did loads of shots, I wasn't happy with any of them, guess this is the best, it needed the B&W treatment to bring out the old gnarled branches

Unfortunately just a shot out of the car through the window at about 80km/h on the A109 - the Nairobi-Mombasa connection road. Too bad that I just got the shot out of the car. It took me a while to get rid of most of the reflections from the window in photoshop but think it's worth an upload.
This tree is around the corner from my last house, and I still go by to shoot it at different times of the year. But fall will always be my favorite...
This tree is so beautiful that I'm planning to plant some at my new place, hoping to get to enjoy the mature beauty, or at least leave it for the next folks to enjoy.
Konza Prairie Preserve, Riley Co., Kansas - Devil of a time squeezing through that knothole to get this pic.
Wildflowers are booming again at Catherine Creek, so early this year! I have plenty of shots of the flowers as well but I wanted to share this one because of the hearts that I see! :) Thinking of all the amazing Flickr Friends who helped me get my beginnings as a photographer.. you all helped me build my skills and confidence and I will never forget that!
I wanted to tag just a few of you who made a big difference in my life in many ways, but got overwhelmed by the number of tags and was afraid I might miss someone! Those of you who helped me the most know darn well I mean you, sending you hugs!
Digital work of this old tree. Tree taken at Lakeland with my Canon 60D, moon taken few years back on my trip to Lebanon, added birds brushes from DeviantArts and Freeware Texture from the web (no credit or reference to who authored the texture was given)

The Rosskopf surely gets photographed frequently because he's at the lower part of »Großer Ahornboden«. Nonetheless, I like that scene with the old tree taken with a Sinar p2 (some shift for control of perspective).
The photo was taken on slide film and drum scanned with Heidelberg Tango.
This is an older picture, I stumpled upon today in my archive, taken 2007 in the Paimpont forest, France.
It really looks like Merlin trapped in the 1000 years old oak (the Abbot Guillotin's oak - Le Chêne de Guillotin)!
Paimpont forest, sometimes said to be the Arthurian Brocéliande, is in the French commune of Paimpont, near the city of Rennes in Brittany. As Brocéliande it had a reputation in the Medieval imagination as a place of magic and mystery. It is the setting of a number of adventures in Arthurian legend, notably Chrétien de Troyes's Yvain, the Knight of the Lion, and locals[citation needed] claim the tree in which the Lady of the Lake supposedly imprisoned Merlin can still be seen today. Other recent legendary (from the 19th century) places said to lie within the forest include the Val sans Retour, the tomb of Merlin, the Fountain of Youth, and Hotié de Vivianne (castle of the Lady of the Lake).

This is a pretty big canvas 30x 30 inches,While walking thru a field searching for a place that touches my soul to paint, after about a half hour or so, wow I saw this old huge tree with a old wooden fence around the base, I had to try and tackle this subject, first off I started off real slow trying to get a feel for the tree and a few old farmhouses in the background, after about 20 mins my excitement could no longer be contained like a lion wanting to bust out of a cage, I started throwing paint on like a madman, using my paint brush, then palette knife when the effect was no longer useful I started using my fingers, towards the end of the painting I was using a handful of weeds to get a cool scratching look,Im glad my art teacher didnt see me using such methods Im sure he would of threw me out of class, hell he might of threw me straight into the nut house,it got to a point if I ruined the canvas I didn't care I was expressing my self to the fullest one step below madness after a couple of hours I took a step backwards and thought this could be my best painting I ever did or the worst, its kind of confusing when a painter finishes a painting and doesn't know if the painting is good or not, O well at least I had a good time out in the fields painting with a fury, and humming with Bach in my headphones,Well my friends time to take a nice long hot shower, relax with a good meal consisting of a Peppercorn Flat Iron Steak a 10 oz. steak chargrilled served on a bed of sautéed onions, and portabella mushrooms, topped with black peppercorn butter, and fresh vegetables.and for dessert An extra generous pecan brownie crowned with rich vanilla ice cream, drizzled with classic warm chocolate sauce and finished with chocolate shavings and whipped cream. A chocolate lover’s dream."O" I almost forgot and a couple of long island ice teas to wash it all down with,AAHHH as you can see tonight is going to be a good night, then when my head hits the pillow my thoughts will drift on tomorrows painting ,take care everyone and remember a day without painting is a wasteful day indeed,Cheers, Steve, H.
