Today was a true struggle for me! I spent most of the day at a car dealership up North. Granted I came away with a beautiful new Jaguar ;D But it made it difficult to get my wood shot! I can't complain though I found this beauty on my way back home! I have no information on it but plan to go back when I can to get some information!
The old mill in Jesmond Dene next to the waterfall. Once again, a great playground when I was a kid.

I think it was known as Lascade Mills
I think that most of my "remains" pictures show the portion of the stone or brick on the right hand side (greatly deteriorated now)
It was made by General Electric; no other markings remain. This machine was once located inside one of the American Thread mill buildings that has since been demolished. I think it could have been a turbine-driven generator, due to the small motor section on the outside end of the shaft and its proximity to the water. The fence prohibits public access and thus closer examination is not possible.

"Salmon run on the Humber River - 4/5/6" is a sequence of shots. This salmon weighs over 20 pounds -- possibly close to 30 lbs. I got lucky with the sequence, just catching him as his head leaves the water and then 2 stages of his leap. He didn't make it on this attempt, but I'm sure he was successful shortly after.

An authentic reproduction of an old water-powered grist mill, this striking structure appears in the opening scene of the classic 1939 film Gone with the Wind and is believed to be the only building remaining from the film. Built in 1933; designed to look old so it would appear as if it was built the 1800s. The park is decorated with sculptures of toadstools, tree stumps, and a tree branch-entwined bridge that connects the mill to the rest of the park. Senor Dionico Rodriguez, a sculptor and artist of Mexico City, was responsible for all the details of each piece of concrete work made to represent wood, iron or stone, as well as the designing of the foot bridges and rustic seats. The Old Mill is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
