Captain Bill Hardy invited the four of us, Averill, Dennis, and Valerie, and myself on camera duty, on a tour of the Canadian Coast Guard Vessel Baie des Chaleurs and its station in Louisbourg Harbour while visiting the small town on Wednesday Oct 9.

Visible behind us are the living quarters for the crew and supporting personnel of the ship. It's equipped with kitchen, bedrooms, showers and comfortable living quarters. They stay here 24-7 while on duty, ready to sail at a moments notice.

Our neighbour Chanel takes a picture with her cellphone.

The solar eclipse occurred today with a heavy cloud cover obscuring the pivotal moment of total darkness of the sun. The northern edge of the path of totality was located about 30 km to the south of our neighbourhood over Lake Ontario. As a result we only got glimpses of the moon covering up the sun through he clouds. In a way it was OK as I hadn't prepared my cameras to take pictures of the solar eclipse with a clear sky. So I got shots with the brightness of the sun lessened by the cloud cover.

This is Jerry, our 18yr old. He's not well & hasn't been eating properly for over 3 months. He already had a heart murmur but has developed a respiratory problem discovered when we took him to our local vets on Wednesday & will take him again for his final visit on Monday.

I didn't originally plan to do a time-lapse so there's a mixture of focal lengths, small changes to exposure and camera position and the photos weren't taken at fixed intervals; Hence it looks rather clunky but does show a sample of what I captured.
