Dedicated July, 1967.
This fountain is designed in honor of Canada's Confederation, 1867 and through its various time cycles and structures, relates the history of Confederation. The arch represents the aim of the Fathers of Confederation to unify the provinces from the Atlantic to the Pacific coasts. The total cycle lasts 10 min and at night it is iluminated by 58 - 500 Wt underwater lamps.
There are 30 nozzles powered by 4 - 7 HP pumps Spraying approximately 1400 gallons of water per minute.
Macro Monday's and the theme of "Zed".
This week I spent the first few days considering items that started with "Z", then I went back and read the theme description again and realised that the item only required a "Z" to be present anywhere in the name so a bit of thinking and rethinking took place and I came up with "Nozzle".
So it had to be a photo with the nozzle in action and I decided to use flash to capture the spray as well as the subject.
I also considered Lozenge and spent a while deciding between the two.

I've photographed this bottle several times, but it's so colorful I can't not shoot it again.

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites.
They are individually in my photostream. My two favorites are probably the glue nozzle and the balloon animal. Which of the four would you choose?
Macro Mondays 'spiky' theme.
This image shows the spikes of a large star nozzle. Lit with a daylight desk lamp directly overhead and the ambient room lighting.
The nozzle measures .75" at the widest point.
Affixed to the side of a warehouse in Dogpatch district. Do any of you know what these are for? Total mystery to me.
It isn’t just Tom Cats that like to Spray a little something in strategic locations to define their territory, Humans do it too with a lot more refinement… and a lot less smelly.
Macro Mondays 'hobby' theme.
One of my hobbies is baking, and I love making and decorating cupcakes. These are two of my Russian 'Nifty Nozzles' which I haven't actually tried yet but I know that they produce really pretty frosting.
Each nozzle measures just over 3cm in diameter (at the base), and 4 cm high
Thanks, everyone, for your views, comments and faves. Very much appreciated.
For those that asked, the nozzle on the left was used to do the frosting on Cupcake Joy

I had fun with this week’s challenge. After hunting round the kitchen for something interesting to photograph I stumbled upon a baking blowtorch and thought that it would make a good subject. I’d not used it in a while so had forgotten how to use it and it had no gas. I found the refill canister and had several attempts at refilling it. I finally got enough gas inside and worked out how to make it work. I was conscious of the fact that I’d got plastic utensils hanging up as the flame at one point was quite big and before I knew what was happening I had a fire in the sink! All the unused fuel that had been expelled from the canister from my failed attempts at refilling had been ignited by the flame 🔥. This was a very scary moment and put me off trying again to take a picture of it. This image of the piping bag nozzles was a much safer option. This is my second fire whilst photographing items for the macro Monday theme so no more hot items for me. Enjoy and HMM
Nozzle of a small butane torch.
It's kind of ironic that the color normally associated with coolness also indicates a very hot gas flame.
This is the first time I used my Kenko 2X teleconverter with the Canon 100mm macro lens. Good thing the combination worked well, given the need to keep a safe distance from the flame.
I had no color choice for the spray bottle which came with a classy flat black shirt press. Regardless of its color, the bottle does the job it's designed for.
HMM!
Macro Mondays: What is that.
It is as www.flickr.com/photos/150700543@N02/ guessed ready for pastry. It's looking up through a cake decorating nozzle.
For Macro Mondays 'Mediums' theme - this is the nozzle of a spray can I used for a project a little while ago. It's a great medium and there is certainly a skill to using spray cans - I wish I was better at it. Maybe it's time to do some more practice.

Europe. Portugal, Leiria, Nazaré, Harbour, Maintenance wharf, Ship, Ducted propellor (cut from all sides)
Shot again at the maintenance wharf of Nazaré harbour.
Shown here is a ship undergoing a paint job. Prominently displayed is the ducted propellor (aka 'Kort nozzle'). The duct around the prop enhances efficiency and has safety bonuses. The system is only used in highly loaded props and ships that generally don't cruise faster than 18,5 km/h. Kurt nozzles have the additional benefits of reduced bottom suction while operating in shallow water and are less susceptible to jams because of debris or the ship's own net. So they're often used on (coastal) fishing ships and tugs.
This is number 13 of the Nazaré album.
