It’s 2 years today since we lost this old fella. Never a day passes without thinking about him. His picture takes pride of place on our wall. He left a huge mark on us all….xx.

A portrait of my beloved Jasper who left this world six years ago to the day on 11th November 2016.

He wasn't just a handsome boy on the outside but he was, though often aloof, as soft as his fluffiness on the inside too. One of his many nicknames was 'Meester Floffy' which for some unfathomable reason was always said with a terribly stereotypical, yet light-hearted, Mexican-style accent.

He didn't come for cuddles but he did love to be cradled belly-side up or pinned down for a quick cuddle. He was adorably cute and mischievous as a kitten, eating all of my non-toxic precious indoor palm trees. He was incredibly gentle with the quietest squeak of a meow as an adult. He never scratched or bit me once, unlike Archie where it is an everyday occurrence.

You had to bury your head into Jaspers fur just to hear his soft and gentle purr and I miss him every single day.

Jasper... a £20 cattery long-haired moggy that was beautiful, gentle, enormous and long-lived. He was one of a kind.

D-Day 76 years later! Let's not forget all these Heroes! Never forget to never repeat such atrocities

If this year the health situation is unprecedented, we should not forget these millions of lives spoiled by an inexhaustible thirst for atrocities !! 76 years later, we still have this duty of memory, which must never stop !!!! To never forget his people who gave their lives for our Freedom!

...losing you hurts so much, I'll miss, remember and love you forever always❤️

“Happy Father’s Day Prayers”

This is Holly #1 and her daughter, Juniper. Very like in spirit and incomparable explorers- our safety cat fence never could hold either of them. Juniper went missing in 2016; we lost Holly #1 in 2020. Not a day goes by that I don't think of each of them- always loved and missed.

I am SO glad that the Happy Caturday! group gave me a reason to go back into the archives and find shots and sweet memories of our babies.

This is our sweet Holly #1, back in 2004! She was such a babydoll, and as you can see, that is how Ken is holding her! We lost Holly in 2020 and our hearts were just broken. The "Holly" we took in from the truck stop in Mississippi was SUCH the spirit of this girl that we both called out her name! Holly is forever our girl.

I am SO glad that the Happy Caturday! group gave me a reason to go back into the archives and find shots and sweet memories of our babies.

Dear Dad, you are always in our thoughts & in our hearts. You are forever missed & loved, because you were the very best..

Back before we had our cat safety fence enclosure, Juniper hiked and explored the woods with us! She was fearless! She was one of Holly's (#1) kittens, born on August 8, 2005. and went missing in March of 2016. We think of her so often and will always miss her.

I`ve been for certain reasons absent for almost 5 months. I got back on track just last week to participate in this beautiful group. And the 2nd theme since my comeback is such an emotional one for me It couldn`t be more emotional. The theme is called #father !

I picked two items which my father left back when he passed away almost 4 years ago. 1st one is this golden necklace with the zodiac sign scorpion. My Mother gave it to him 56 years ago. My Father himself wore it from that day for the rest of his life. He never took it of until his time has come.

The necklace is on a blue fleece jacket that my father loved to wear. This fleece jacket is now in my possession and every time I put it on in the cold winter months, my thoughts turn to him.

We miss you, dad !

During Rolling Thunder 22nd street and Conn. is blocked off and is turned into what is called Thunder Alley. Venders are lined up. This is a rack of leather vest.

This is Juniper, one of Holly #1's kittens, born back in August of 2005, before we had a safety cat enclosure in 2007. She loved to go down on the dock and enjoy a lazy afternoon. Juniper was a wild child, and even after our fencing was installed, she could defeat it, though it was 99% cat safe . . . She went missing in March of 2016. We will always miss this little girl.

Whilst most flowers give me joy roses give me "Pure Joy". This variety in particular gives me more [pure] joy than most as I planted it as a memorial to my brother who passed away 3 years ago but it now serves as a memorial to all in my known family who have passed away prior to or since that time.

As in the words of the carol at this time of year this rose certainly brings me 'tidings of comfort and joy'. Took this shot earlier this year but didn't get round to processing it until now!! :>)

NEVER FORGET

In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row,

That mark our place; and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved, and were loved, and now we lie

In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:

To you from failing hands we throw

The torch; be yours to hold it high.

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In Flanders fields.

An old shot that still speaks today.

This photograph was taken in the past, yet it still feels incredibly present. I chose to republish it on my Pro account because it belongs to those images that never lose their meaning with time. On the contrary, years later it feels even more relevant.

It speaks of fragility and resistance, of how human beings often destroy what they touch, but also carry within them the possibility of awareness. This is why it is worth bringing it back: it is an image that does not fade, that keeps on resonating.

A dear friend of mine lost his battle with Melanoma over Easter. I pray for his beautiful spirit, I pray for his beautiful wife and young children and I pray that your light will shine upon him. RIP Mark, your friendship, your smile and your wit will never be forgotten. Live Jesus in our hearts, forever.

I would imagine (and hope) that many, many people will be stopping today to remember the horrific events of 11th September 2001. So many mental images that will never, ever leave our minds and hearts. People from so many different countries, not just the US. So many stories of loss and heartbreak - and so many stories of bravery and heroic actions. Remembering .... all those who lost their lives on that fateful day: all those who lost loved ones and close friends or fellow workers; all those who rushed in to "do their job" or "to help others" in any way they could. Remembering .... all those who were severely injured on that fateful day and who have bravely suffered every day since then; all those Firemen, Emergency Medical people, Police - men and women, who have suffered and continue to suffer emotionally and physically, including illnesses caused by being exposed to harmful chemicals. The list goes on and on. Remembering ... and praying that we never see another day like September 11th, 2001.

(1944-1986) Coluche just told hard-hitting truths... that are still relevant today. He launched 'les restos du Coeur' in december 1985! 33 years later, The 'Resto du Coeur' is still 'recognized as being of public interest'. While He thought initiative necessary for

a defined period of time! which shall not exceed a few years...

Sad picture.

But! Rien n'a changé Mec! despite the Good intentions, Good Efforts and Deeds.

Coluche will always be terribly missed, but never will he be forgotten!

A fellow photohrapher takes a picture of the graffitti artists working on the mural to commemorate the 39th anniversary of Tlatelolco 68, a day in which the Mexican government murdered more that 400 demonstrators (students, women, children, factory workers, farmers) who gathered at a square in the Tlatelolco borough of Mexico City.

There's more to the picture than meets the eye....

(It's like the harmonica is crying for Sadie) Sadie's ears always perked up when I played it.

This is where I scattered Dad's ashes, It's where I'll scatter some of Sadie's ashes too. It's where mine will join them as well one day, what a view from all sides!

Been very therapeutic for me to go through all our memories this week, what a BIG life she had in her short dog years. Can't believe she made it into this picture here but so glad she did...what a special companion she was. I turned comments off, there's nothing left to say other then I wish I could have them both back...

(my father's words - shortly before he died)

RIP Vätterli 1.4.1921 - 1.1.2006

Erich was an April fool (April 1st) all his life long (when you went by his birth day...).

Erich also was very serious....

Often, clowns are dead serious - and quite sad in their soul.

My dad wasn't a clown and when he set his mind to it, he could tell stories like nobody else; but - in his heart, he was always sincere, sometimes sad, rather quiet, always humble, often searching and eventually finding.... He has found peace in eternity; Good on him!

He was, at the end of his days, very light, both in weight and in being (he only parked his body 'just' still on this earth, his mind was already on his travels). He was getting nearly transparent. A great and wonderful light in him shone from within - just like it's shining through these beautiful tulip petals.

When I think of Erich now, it's always with a smile on my face - any heavy-weight memory is gone, only the beautiful, light filled moments stayed, the fun, laughter, lessons I learned and little things I shall never forget.

I think of his incredible talent of reciting poems and I close the circle of thoughts with the words of my title: Ich habe gesucht und besseres gefunden....

This snipped of paper which contained a world of his thinking, was also a 'bookmark' in a linnen-bound poetry book Erich offered me for Christmas 1989. He wrote: Your old father found an even older treasure, printed in 1872, well read by me since long. I would like to leave this to you and hope that it will give you joy from time to time. With love, your Father

On the back of the card that came with the little book (red linen cover, gold print on inner lining and over the pages - a treasure of a time gone by) he added: Instead of copying, please read on page 129: For the gardeners by Friedrich Rueckert....

How could he know I would become a 'part time' gardener? He couldn't.... As little as he knew that his grand child would be a landscape gardener later. I will offer you that poem when the time is right :)
