Update:
After a visit to the Bowie High Website, I found the instructor / sponsor of the Art Club (Amber Bohanna) who kindly responded to my e mail. She informed me that HEB sponsored the Art Club with supplies and materials for creating this art piece for the First Night Austin Parade (http://www.firstnightaustin.org/)Here's a quote from her detailed response:
"We used cardboard construction, paper mache, and tape sculptures (Marilyn and the coke Bottle). The Marlin was supposed to be standing and pushing the cart from behind, but we were short on time (we had about two weeks to find time after school during finals weeks to get the cart done). The tape sculptures are made by putting saran wrap around parts of the model and then wrapping that with about 3 or 4 layers of clear packing tape. We painted flesh color paper and stuffed that inside the Marilyn. For the Coke Bottle, we wrapped one of the curvy girl students we have (I think the coke bottle design was based on a women's body) and paint the inside with the brown-black color to look like liquid, and then stuffed it newspaper. Tape sculptures are a great way to make inexpensive castings, and people seem to really like them.
After it was displayed in HEB for a couple of weeks, students from the art club pushed it through the First Night Austin Parade. It was a lot of fun and we got great reactions. We have to think of an even better idea for next year:)"

A Great Blue Heron tends to its fledgling. Wakodahatchee Wetlands, Fl.
A test run with the new Panasonic 100-400mm lens with my E-M1. Nice but just a tad inconsistent on the focus in less then optimum light for my taste.
My E-510 had suffered service maintenance one day.
Those dudes(not the two on the picture) fixed the problem but the grip rubber was actually damaged, so the rubber vent off the camera one day.
Then I decided to change design. You can read some Mark Newson/Pentax influence.
Unused shots from a trip to Sheffield Botanical Gardens in April 2015 - using my E-620 and Oreston 50mm combination at the time.
Simply with the intention of being proved wrong or causing debate do I have the oldest working telegraph circuit? It’s been working around ten years now.

This is a complete reworking of the earlier Nuthatches painting, I've decided to have some giclee prints made that will eventually be available at my e-shop, and had a couple of test sheets made to see how the files would translate.
When I saw the tests, it amazed me just how much my style has developed since the first digital Nuthatch painting, when I was still experimenting with such things as paper formats, and developing new techniques involving multiple layers of digital pencil drawing and watercolour washes.
Even with many, many years of experience as a bird artist, I still say that the day I finish a painting and think to myself, " That's it, I can't do anything better than this". That's the day I will give up painting!
So, this is the new version, I thought I'd leave the old up for now so you can make a comparison, I'd be very interested in comments, what do you all think?
Nuthatches are one of my favourite small birds, they are easily spotted once an initial identification has been made, with a highly distinctive arrowhead like shape, and highway mans mask like stripe through the eyes.
Where ever there are Oak trees there is a high possibility you will find Nuthatches flitting form branch to branch with an endearing jittery nature that simply makes them fascinating to watch.
I tend to find myself more of a bird watcher than bird spotter, of course it is exciting when a bird you've not spotted before is seen, but I find I get so much more from simply observing the behaviour and nature of different species and building an understanding of just how unique each is.
Incidentally, where you see Nuthatches, it is also worth keeping and eye out for Treecreepers, I find they often exist side by side in the same haunts, and while perhaps not as pretty as Nuthatches, display some of the most unique and fascinating behaviour.
Olympus E-PL1
Uploaded this photo I took in Hong Kong but I really can't concentrate because today is Camera Catastrophe Day:
1. My E-PL1 is MISSING! I know that sounds ridiculous but I can't find it anywhere. I know I had it at home yesterday morning, and, when out and about during the afternoon I wanted to take a photo and went to take it out of my bag but it wasn't there. I assumed I had left it at home but it's not here either. The only hope is that it is in a Japanese restaurant where we had lunch yesterday, and that if it did somehow fall out of my bag there someone was honest enough to hand it in. The place is closed today, will have to check tomorrow :-( :-(
2. Minor, but irritating: updated the OS on my iPhone last night and now all the photos in the Camera Roll are blacked out! :-(
Fooling around with a reversed lens macro on my E-P1. The DOF is really, really shallow here. I probably should have also cleaned the 58mm ROKKOR lens better...

I haven't had much opportunity to get out and take photos lately. So I spent my lunch break Friday wandering around Caboose Park in Blacksburg, Virginia with my E-410 & OM Zuiko 100/2.8 . I'm posting this series exactly like they came out of the camera (SOOC).
