Adventures in Monotangles #12 'Verve'

DIVA Weekly Challenge # 357:

"Monotangle - Paradox time!"

Created for the Swap called Monotangle, which means using only one tangle. It is drawn on 2.5" x 3.4" watercolor painted cardstock, using Micron .01 and .005 pens; colored with Sharpie fine line markers. Tile is exchange with other tanglers from the Facebook group "Zentangle Artist Trading Swap." Thanks for viewing.

Just for fun I decided to go back to December 2010 and start doing all the Diva Challenges. Here are the first two. On the left is Challenge #1 - Simplicity...which to me means simple string and monotangle. The tangle I did was Nightsbridge with several variations. On the right is Challenge #2 - 2pencil string. I had never tried that before at all. The tangles I used were BTL Joos, Barberpole, Ragz, Onamato, Spokes, and Zigzag border. I thought it looked incomplete, so I sponged on shades of green and brown ink and now I like it.

This challenge was to leave spaces blank and not fill up the whole tile with tangles. The one on the left was very easy. I love Mooka frames, so it's a monotangle. On the right, I used a pre-strung tile, and drew Ennies, a Bales variation, Striping, and Umble.

DC #364: "Monotangle of PUF by Carole Ohl, CZT"

oops! I didn't realise until I uploaded that it was a monotangle. :)

Mooka, is one I avoid at all costs - something about it - maybe cause I find it difficult to incorporate in my work :) I do love the flowy style of our tangling colleagues, but I would say, my works are more structured in appearance - not to say I plan because I don't, I just take it to where it takes me - love the element of surprise :)

go here iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com.au/ to see other works - I'll try to get through them all - there are so many and my time is limited of late :)

thanks for looking :)

Finally completed the other half of this ex-monotangle-Printemps-tile ^_^

If you are a tangler and are keen to meet tanglers from all over the world by participating in this project, do drop me a line or send a request directly to the Facebook page: Travelling Tangles Project !

This is my take on "betweed": This is my first (very amateurish) attempt at Betweed, on a postcard blank xD I don't really like my end result, but I discovered I like the flower like Betweed better than the linear Betweed, even though they look more complex.

Monotangle: Betweed

Monotangle of Crescent Moon in Sepia (I didn't realize this when I began and then remembered Laura Harms' reminder that - there are no mistakes in tangling, so I went with it - ditto when I stopped to note something elsewhere and restarted w/ black, hmmm) and black in answer to the CZT Diva's Challenge # 72!

This is my take on Tipple as a monotangle. I love using Tipple to emphasise negative space. I use these tipple-hearts SO often, and have even taught this in class - they loved it :) It looks so lacy and complex, but it is SO easy and fun to do. Not to mention, addictive :P

This week we were challenged to use the tangle, "birds on a wire". I decided to do a Monotangle in order to get to know this tangle better.

Thanks for looking!

Used 8 different colored Sharpie fine point pens. I used red, blue, orange, turquoise, clover, coral, hot pink and purple. And 9th color was used for the signature, green. Loved doing this. 3x3

Zentangle inspired Weekly Challenge of Laura Harms clever idea. Monotangle is drawing a zentangle using a single tangle design. One of the official tangle pattern, Knightsbridge.

oops! I didn't realise until I uploaded that it was a monotangle. :)

This week's Monotangle is to use Paradox and for some added interest, I used an 'overlay' technique with one of my Zendalas.

Thank you for looking :)

Weekly Challenge #111: "More-Mooka-Madness Monotangle-Mania"

This is my take on Athizi: I chose not to use a string, as I wanted something simple and uncomplicated. I ended up with a monotangle.

Inspired by the Diva Challenge for a Mooka monotangle. While this isn't a monotangle, I thought this would be fun. I used a large Mooka as a string for other tangles and shading.

This is the Diva's 1st challenge of the month and it is a UMT (Use My Tangle) and it is Knightstar by Daniel Lamothe CZT. I did an almost Monotangle but dediced to add a tangellation of Ta-Da in there. This is a very fun tangle. I did find that the bigger the grid, the more hash marks should be put around the edges so the oval in the middle is more rounded. But, it all turned out great even though I thought for sure I'd screwed it up. I just made the "petals" black and I really like how that turned out.

So, go to Laura's website at iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com/ and see what others have done with this challenge. You might even want to try it yourself, eh? ;-)

Zonked (Barbara Finwall) on Bijoutile

3x5 ballpoint version. I dont like this one as much as the first one. I love this pattern and will likely do more of these.
