Some fantastic images, however the colours are rather intense and by including some paler tones to balance it out you would project a more light and airy appearance, think how you would translate the colour balance of your images into a scheme. There is enough coral colour in the images and the picture of the girl isn`t necessary as she looks out of context against the wonderful natural and textural qualities that are in the other pictures, perhaps something that was more relaxed and less glamorous would be more appropriate. The chrome isn`t necessary either, as the 3 main images are so evocative and textural they have more powerful impact and have much stronger theme.

A very professionally mounted presentation that is neatly set out and correctly labelled. I find the coral colour rather overpowering and perhaps using a paler grey or less intense colour for your title block and boarders would tone it down slightly.

The Mk 24 Tigerfish torpedo was a heavyweight acoustic homing torpedo used by the Royal Navy (RN) for several years. The early Mod0 and Mod1 variants were unreliable and unsuccessful, but were issued to the RN even though they failed Fleet Weapon Acceptance. Reliability was significantly improved in the Mod2 variant as a result of the Consolidation Programme which addressed the complete weapon system i.e. the on-board fire control system (TCSS10 and DCB) and the Mk24 torpedo. The Consolidation Programme was initiated following the torpedo's reliability failures during the Falklands War. It was headed by Marconi Underwater Systems as prime contractor with Ferranti Computer Systems and Gresham Lion as major sub-contractors. The Tigerfish was eventually replaced in Royal Navy service by the more capable Spearfish torpedo.

The Tigerfish was fitted with both active and passive sonar and could be remotely controlled through a thin wire which connected it to the launching submarine. Wire guidance permits a torpedo to be launched on-first-warning, i.e. when a target is first detected at long range. This permits the torpedo the time needed to close the range while target course and speed is being updated by the submarine's superior sensors and transmitted 'down-the-wire'. The torpedo can also be reassigned to another target or recalled. Typically, wire-guided torpedoes initially run at low speed (in order to maximize their range and to minimize their self-generated noise) while they close the range (the approach speed) and speed up during the attack phase (the attack speed).

Tutor Comments: You have produced a very strong concept board, they are difficult to grasp and can take many attempts to get them right. Always refer back to the brief when finding images for the concept.

-The image of the bubbles creates the feeling of light and airy as they are floating in the open air. The fact that you have selected some very abstract images gives the board an unstructured feel. We also gain the impression of space through the girl on the roof with the blue sky. The American West Coast is harder to see in your images. We would expect an image representing the US, the beach, sea, palm trees are the obvious ones.

-The concept board would be stronger if the images of the coffee cup, the top image and the bottom left image were all removed, leaving the 4 strongest images on the board. The 4 images create the emotions in the brief (except US West Coast) and they create impact which is the job of the concept board.

-The image on the top left and far right are too close to the edge of the board, allow your borders to be wider and the images on the board to be closer, closing the gaps slightly.

-Labelling: KLC label their boards with the students name and date on the right hand side, the title in the centre and the client's name on the left.

-The black panel across the bottom of the board should be the same size as the width of the mount board as it is cut short on either ends it looks odd.

-The images would look best if they were all stuck to card (the same thickness as mount board) and then stuck to the board. The foam board images feel very thick compared to the images which have been stuck to the card.

"Another excellent set of plans and the previous comments relating to the sitting room and bedroom apply.

There is a partition wall drawn in to the left of the bath. However it is not clear what this is exactly because a partition wall would create a barrier and prevent you from getting into and out of the bath - are you referring to the side of the bath perhaps? In which case it doesn't need to be annotated as a wall on the plan. If this isn't the case, this requires further explanation in your sketches and survey notes".

"This is a very good start to producing a concept board and you have found some great images in response to the brief.

The words "unstructured" and "spacious" are missing from the title and these should be included. Unstructured is illustrated through the images however there isn't and image that strongly conveys "spacious".

This concept board contains a lot of neutral colours of gray and taupe with greens and reds which would be used as accents colours. These colours would be used in a decorative scheme in the same proportions that they appear on your concept so in effect the concept and sample board and be read side by side. There are a variety of different shapes and finishes, which would be incorporated into a scheme to create visual interest through the choice of furniture, finishes, and accessories.

Good quality board has been used with nicely mounted images. Lovely labelling at the bottom of the board. "

This is an excellent colour wheel. It is a useful size and has been precisely cut. Your method of rendering is appropriate and neatly done with a good definition of colour. It has been clearly labelled and laminated beautifully. 40/40

(I used acrylic paint, this was my second attempt due to brown indigo first time and it was also worth using a compass cutter for better circles.)

This is an excellent start to technical drawing. The corners meet accurately and the inking is neat with a smooth, continuous line quality. A few small points which could enhance your drawing/surveying are: to do enlarged sketches of smaller details as well as the sketch elevations. Keep the key and title block separate. As you have a choice where to put the title block and key in relationship to your drawing they could be lined up slightly better. Perhaps the lettering on plan could be slightly smaller. 37/40

21.5/25 Tutor's comments: You have produced an extremely thorough and well thought out questionnaire. The questionnaire covers every aspect required when meeting clients. In reality the time you spend with a client can be limited and therefore you need to gain as much information as quickly as possible. Some of your questions may benefit from having more tick boxes so the client can move through the questions with speed. When working on particular rooms, be more specific with the questions.

Standard of survey sheet/understanding of requirements:

Again loads of detail, this is brilliant. There may be an easier way to present this maybe with ‘chapters’ for each element and sheet dividers so you can quickly get to the information you need when refering back.

Presentation: (Max 5)

Very professional. Some space for drawings and to include photos would be advisable.

Questionnaire

19/20 Tutor's commemts: You have produced a beautiful first concept board and should be very pleased. You have answered the brief very accurately and captured a light, airy "west coast" feel. All the colours work well together giving a very fresh palette. When sourcing images always keep them as abstract as possible. The centre image is lovely but very obviously that is a person. Cropping images and enlarging them is a good way to highlight colour and texture. Extremely well presented c. board with clear, bright & well stuck down images. Overall great layout & good use of branding.
