I start off making mock-ups and hate it, but then always get quite into it. Its impossible to get all the edges to align, make folds in the right places on both sides and its about 40% the size of the finished product but still quite satisfying in the end.

This is a so far of an outside cover, flap, perf and p3. Next, to inset some foam board to show where the bulk of the pages are.

Since I'm a design nerd, I use Adobe Illustrator to place rows of concentric circles. 1", 1/2" and then finally 1/4". The design seems a little small, but I want to keep some of the structural integrity since the foot peg on this side is held on by this chunk of soon-to-be swissed cheese aluminum...

Although this is not my favourite mock up of mine, I like the different textures of the palm tree and the smooth colours of the sunset. I thought it made a great layered piece !
