Mocked up with the antenna board, checking for clearance. I hope I don't cause too much interference to the STX this way.
Going to start tomorrow fabricating some brackets to secure the set. This is a Knight seat I found on VFT.ORG Duct taped in place so I can cut brackets to fit correctly.
In August I took a Pattern Design and Block Printing class at the workroom, taught by the fabulous and talented Lizzy House.
This is an original drawing I did to test how a pattern would look with a series of repeats.
This is set into the floor in the second room of the Egyptian Gallery. The "mummy" is fake - there's a real one in the British Museum - the pots around it are real though. It's a mock up of the sort of burial that was performed in about 4000BC, before the Egyptians had started performing mummification & before there were Pharaohs.
This is a mock up of the logo badge I'm going to make for the combo. I think the brass against the dark green tolex will look fairly classy. You can read more about how I designed it and how I plan to etch the design at damacleod.wordpress.com/
I went on location to a car show room to photograph some high end vehicles. I wanted to use this imagery in a project I was doing titled Man-Made Combined with Organic Forms. I understood the potential I had to make connections with car design and a range of organic shapes & forms.
This cover is somewhat successful as I played about with the layout- starting the design on the back; I've used the whole of the cover and not differentiated between front, back & spine.
The car could stand more editing as the show rooms lights are reflected in the bonnet, side & wind screen. Aside from this the cover design successfully combines by two themes of man-made and organic forms.
I mocked up the front using bluetack to hold it together. I removed the cover to the worm and gear from the chassis. It looks like it will all fit! A short time ago the NRM had the Great Gathering and had six of Sir Nigel Gresley's A4 locomotives (including Mallard, which still has the steam locomotive speed record) all in one place. Two have now left but four still remain.
Mock-up of a possible layout for the 2010 Eno River Association calendar, "Bugs of the Eno" This is a possible layout for September--insects on fall flowers, etc.
One "aha" moment I have had as a photographer working on this project is that photos of insects with a lot of background of their environment are very useful. My orientation has always been towards identification, and for that the tightest shot is usually the best. For a big spread in a layout, however, a shot with a lot of background usually works better than a tightly shot or cropped photo. This has been a real education for me, but I'm sure will be no surprise to graphic designers out there. I'll certainly try to get more of this sort of shot in the future, in case I end up doing this sort of project again.
