A place to go to when your brain feels like it has been tied up in a thousand knots, when you think it’s just impossible to untangle what’s happening on the inside. The confusion, the decisions to be made, the irrelevant projects to hand in. Applications to be filled in, portfolios to be put together, interviews to go to. New businesses to setup… and so much more…
I need a holiday, sadly no break, I gota keep on moving… the end is near… I can see it. The wave is coming...
Whats on your mind?
A huge ravine in the Skaftafell National Park, dug out by a river. The light was quite difficult with the dark ravine against the bright sunlit ash fog. But IR worked out the contrast quite nicely.
Here our group walked along and down the left side of the ravine until it finally leveled with the ground at a great plain.
This was one of the places I ran the most to get shots from different view points. My forehead wouldn't get dry for at least 15 minutes in the bus after this...

Bahnhof Minden. Dat is niet zomaar een stationnetje. Het is een van de beroemdste stations in Duitsland. Minden is geen großstadt. Het is wel een spoorknooppunt. Een van de eerste in Duitsland, getuige het stationsgebouw dat omstreeks 1847 is gebouwd. Het is ongeveer net zo oud Als Valkenburg en inderdaad wel aanvaard als het oudste stationsgebouw van Duitsland. Het dateert nog uit een tijd dat Duitsland geen eens bestond en bijvoorbeeld Hamburg nog lag aan de Deense grens. Een hele poos terug. Ondanks de versnippering in kleine staatjes is Minden wel echt bedoel als knooppunt. In toenmalige visie dus erg Internationaal, nu binnenlands, zo ongeveer waar het Noorden en Midden van Duitsland grenzen. Het station ingeklemd tussen sporen aan beide kanten en zo was het ook bedoeld.
Gezien de opvattingen van toen lag het buiten de stadsgrens. Dat ligt het nog steeds. Om in de stad te komen moet je de Weser-rivier oversteken.
Minden is een leuk stadje. Het is geen Hameln of Rinteln. Wel gewoon prima
Ga je treinen kijken. Dan ga je hier voor de bijl. Internationale treinen, zowel goederen als personenvervoer. Veel treinen. Allerlei soorten treinen. Van de ICE en binnenkort de Talgo tot de S-bahn Hannover welke hier zijn meest westelijke punt heeft en alles er tussen in.
je krijgt DB treinen en niet allen meer in het rood of IC kiezelgrijs. Er is genoeg aan privaat vervoer, inclusief MKB; een vervoerder met haar eigen netwerk, en eigen materieel.
Als het je nog niet duizelt, dan zijn er ook nog testtreinen. Zowel materieel ontwikkeling als voor toelating in Duitsland. Op de Foto zie je er een. De Vossloh G4000; een 4000 Kw sterke diesel; vergelijkbaar met de Voith Maxima. Een powerpack op wielen; welke vooal in Spanje is verkocht. Inmiddels is Diesel passe; in 2011 is in de EU afgesproken om Europa fossiel vrij te krijgen in 2050. Qua brandstof dan. Dieselloks ontwikkelen heeft in die optiek geen zin meer. Bekendste product uit Minden? Misschien wel de Minden Deutz Draaistellen. Die zijn hier ontwikkeld, getest en toegelaten en een echte standaard geworden.
Leuk toentertijd, in het station een winkeltje met Spoorboeken en tijdschiften. Daar ontmoette ik een behoorlijk autistiche Duitser; enigszins Zwak begaafd. Wel ontzettend aardig. Ik vertelde hem over de Vossloh lok. Die had hij nog niet gezien. Wilde hij wel zien.
Nee niet die dag.. maar zijn begeleider was ook gek van treinen. Het enige dat ik hoop is dat ze ook lekker zijn wezen kijken. Even lekker er uit, plezier hebben !

Giant spider season is underway. This was in the garage door. I was so glad to not have walked through it and caught the spider with my face!
