Turns out cooking with a toddler wasn't quite as messy as I thought it would be!

We finally made it back to Pearl's Deluxe Burgers, and this time I remembered to bring my camera along. :) This is the Prized Pearl burger, 1/4-lb. size (bacon, grilled onions, blue cheese). It looked small when it arrived but it was more than enough. Very juicy, very greasy, very messy, very good.

Pearl's menu is in the Comments section below.

So I introduce to you Mr Messy. This shirt was for sure made for this child. The tie is his idea. He has to wear it everywhere and well I just let him. It is so cute. Mr Messy is also quite the negotiator. He decided to dump all of his perfectly organized toy bins all in one box together. We are talking lincoln logs, tinker toys, legos, cars, action figures. Then where does everything in the box go... all on the floor of course. I told him he had to clean it up yesterday. He sat for a second and said, "Hmmm how about Tuesday?" Now I tried to come in my bedroom this morning only to find my door locked. This is always a sign Dax has been there. Sure enough he had taken a bag of microwave popcorn and dumped it in my bathtub. Who does that? So I made him clean it up and put it in the bag. When he came out I asked if it was all cleaned up. His response was, "Yes, Well you don't have to go look though" Whata punk.

She looks like an angel. A messy little angel. I love how I could create this look so easily. Thanks, picnik.

Messier 92 (also known as M92, M 92, or NGC 6341) is a globular cluster of stars in the northern constellation of Hercules. It was discovered by Johann Elert Bode in 1777, then published in the Jahrbuch during 1779. The cluster was independently rediscovered by Charles Messier on March 18, 1781 and added as the 92nd entry in his catalogue.[9] M92 is at a distance of about 26,700 light-years away from Earth.

M92 is one of the brighter globular clusters in the northern hemisphere, but it is often overlooked by amateur astronomers because of its proximity to the even more spectacular Messier 13. It is visible to the naked eye under very good conditions.

Among the Milky Way population of globular clusters, Messier 92 is among the brighter clusters in terms of absolute magnitude. It is also one of the oldest clusters. Messier 92 is located around 16×103 ly (4.9 kpc) above the galactic plane and 33×103 ly (10 kpc) from the Galactic Center. The heliocentric distance of Messier 92 is 26.7×103 ly (8.2 kpc). The half-light radius, or radius containing half of the light emission from the cluster, is 1.09 arcminutes, while the tidal radius is 15.17 arcminutes. It appears only slightly flattened, with the minor axis being about 89% ± 3% as large as the major axis.

Characteristic of other globulars, Messier 92 has a very low abundance of elements other than hydrogen and helium; what astronomers term its metallicity. Relative to the Sun, the abundance of iron in the cluster is given by [Fe/H] = –2.29 dex, which equates to only 0.5% of the solar abundance. This puts the estimated age range for the cluster at 14.2 ± 1.2 billion years, or roughly the age of the Universe.

The cluster is not currently in a state of core collapse and the core radius is about 2 arcseconds. It is an Oosterhoff type II (OoII) globular cluster, which means it belongs to the group of metal poor clusters with longer period RR Lyrae variable stars. The 1997 Catalogue of Variable Stars in Globular Clusters listed 28 candidate variable stars in the cluster, although only 20 have been confirmed. As of 2001, there are 17 known RR Lyrae variables in Messier 92. 10 X-ray sources have been detected within the 1.02 arcminute half-mass radius of the cluster, of which half are candidate cataclysmic variable stars.

Weeks, even months, would often pass with no progress.

Need to trash all this crap.

Messier 56 is a globular cluster located near the Ring Nebula (M57) in the constellation Lyra. M56 is about 30,000 light years away, and is magnitude 8. A great object for Charles Messier to confuse with a comet.

I imaged M57 as a test for a whole bunch of mods and fixes to pretty much all of my gear. It seemed like everything decided to all go south at the same time, but it would appear that things are back on track, luckily.

By the way, I imaged this when the Moon was up. If you're not sure what to image when the Moon is out, try open clusters, globulars, and double stars.

Yeah.

I wanted to call her abby.

Too bad.

Messier 9 or M9 (also designated NGC 6333) is a globular cluster in the constellation of Ophiuchus. It was discovered by Charles Messier in 1764.

M9 is one of the nearer globular clusters to the center of the Milky Way Galaxy with a distance of around 5,500 light-years. Its distance from Earth is 25,800 light-years.

The total luminosity of this cluster is around 120,000 times that of the Sun, the absolute magnitude being -8.04. The brightest individual stars in M9 are of apparent magnitude 13.5, making them visible in moderately sized telescopes. There have been 13 variable stars found in M9.

Nearby, at about 80' to the northeast of M9 is the dimmer globular cluster NGC 6356, while at about 80' to the southeast is the globular NGC 6342.

This image from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope shows the globular cluster Messier 9. Hubble’s image resolves stars right into the centre of the cluster, and clearly shows they have different colours. Redder colours signify lower surface temperatures, while blue stars are extremely hot.

21.02.2010 // Day 360

Dissertation Sunday.

Spent reading journal articles, writing and re-writing my methodology section, e-mailing my supervisor, and trying to think of the best way to write my data out (in a semi-coherent manner).

Messy kitchen.

I'm definately a messy marvin. But I usually know where everything is.

The current mess in my home studio. Did a quick session on Tuesday night before leaving for the concert and haven't gotten around to straightening up yet.

One messy ass room.

Mark Douglas John Messier (* 18. Januar 1961 in Edmonton, Alberta) ist ein ehemaliger kanadischer Eishockeyspieler, der von 1979 bis 2004 für die Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers und die Vancouver Canucks in der National Hockey League spielte.

My time aboard the Rhum Runner is always fun. I often take the opportunity to add some beautiful images to my collection. This year was no exception. I managed to pull this one out from what was a quite messy scene.

I am really enjoying life with my this new camera.

Edited European Southern Observatory image of the galaxy Messier 61.

Original caption: Nuzzled in the chest of the constellation Virgo (the Virgin) lies a beautiful cosmic gem — the galaxy Messier 61. This glittering spiral galaxy is aligned face-on towards Earth, thus presenting us with a breathtaking view of its structure. The gas and dust of the intricate spiral arms are studded with billions of stars. This galaxy is a bustling hub of activity with a rapid rate of star formation, and both a massive nuclear star cluster and a supermassive black hole buried at its heart. Messier 61 is one of the largest members of the Virgo Cluster, which is made up of more than a thousand galaxies, and is itself at the centre of the Virgo Supercluster — to which our Milky Way also belongs. This dazzling beauty was first discovered in 1779, and it has been capturing astronomers’ interest ever since. Set against a dark sky littered with galaxies, this image shows the awe-inspiring M61 in its full glory — even at its distance of over 50 million light-years. This image was taken as part of ESO’s Cosmic Gems Programme, an outreach initiative to produce images of interesting, intriguing or visually attractive objects using ESO telescopes, for the purposes of education and public outreach. The programme makes use of telescope time that cannot be used for science observations. In case the data collected could be useful for future scientific purposes, these observations are saved and made available to astronomers through ESO’s Science Archive.
