Charles Messier described the 88th entry in his 18th century catalog of Nebulae and Star Clusters as a spiral nebula without stars. Of course the gorgeous M88 is now understood to be a galaxy full of stars, gas, and dust, not unlike our own Milky Way.

8 July 2012. This one came out pretty nice despite the moon.
Things I had never done before I made these two nights ago:
-used TLS
-made donuts out of Sculpey
-baked any Sculpey project more than once
-made 1/12 miniatures
I've been admiring a lot of the awesome mini food I've been seeing on Flickr and wanted to try making some myself, but I always gave up on donuts before this because I didn't know how to make the frosting look like real frosting.
At last I found out about TLS and acquired a bottle, mixed in some paint I had sitting around, and frosted my donuts. =) I put a bit too much on this batch, so these are very messy donuts.
Anyway I made some more stuff after this and was very pleased with the result, so I'm going to start selling it on Etsy!
'Cause I'm too messy and then I'm too f-cking clean
You told me get a job then you ask where the hell I've been
And I'm too perfect 'til I open my big mouth
I want to be me, is that not allowed?
And I'm too clever and then I'm too fucking dumb
You hate it when I cry unless it's that time of the month
And I'm too perfect 'til I show you that I'm not
A thousand people I could be for you and you hate the f-cking lot

River Dargle Flood Defence Scheme.
These images were taken during the last week of September 2012, tracking the on-going river bank alterations and excavation of the river bed.
In preparation for the river-bank strengthening/protection along this stretch of the river, a 2nd channel was created -- with the intention of diverting the river.
Having endured a similar flooding only days earlier, another heavy fall of rain caused the channels to fill up again.
It meant starting all over again - draining this road/bank side channel, cutting a release channel near the bridge to release the volume, and activating pumps to assist with the repeated drainage.
Matters were never helped by the overflow pipe which siphoned run-off from the adjacent motorway!
Always quite amazing to see how water levels could drain away within a few days.
The question would always be -- how much work could be completed before the (inevitable) next run of water?
As we can see, one or two day's intense rain could produce rapid flooding of channels, swamping on-going works, and causing temporary vehicle access paths to have to be repaired.
And these access ramps were proving difficult to navigate for the fully-laden dumpers/trucks.
The A250 Volvo truck are now bringing soil down to the riverside, to continue the repair work on the river bank/shelf.
One hell of a wet and messy place to be working, especially for the guys on foot.
So, my kids are as opposite as they come. I'll give you one guess to see which room belongs to my sweet sweet daughter. It's a constant source of frustration. By no means is this a work of art, but someday I want to have a picture to remind me of this phase in my life. When my house is empty, I am SURE I'll miss that messy room.... but not as much as that messy girl, and super neat boy. :)

I got these two beauties on Wednesday, July 1st, so 10 days earlier. I remember because I got them the day before my final french (literature) oral test xD I was very stressed out that day so I didn't unpacked them right after getting them, but I knew they were in the package. ^^
Anyway, I had to wash Flora as she was a bit dirty and redo Flora's hair since it was messy. I got her two front wicks back to the side of her face. I replaced the two missing thin threads that hold her wicks so she looks as new now. Musa was in perfect condition, except maybe for the fact one of the piece of clothing on her ankles is a bit torn but it's on the back so we can really notice it so that's okay.
They both came with their cards. I don't know if it's Musa's right pair of glasses or maybe Layla's but I don't really care. They are both missing their cardboard purses but it doesn't really matter as well.
