I painted this myself. I used thick watercolors on white watercolor paper. Then, I sprayed on several coats of damar varnish. Please enjoy it! Peace!

A recipe from "Jerusalem: A Cookbook" by Yotam Ottolenghi and Sami Tamimi.

"Crispy Meatballs" or at least that is what Google Translate says the main heading on the menu is.

I've never heard of this food item here, so I doubt the translation is correct.

Pizza peel from King Arthur Flour CO.

Pompeii glass jars: Sea salt, pepper & seasoning salt.

A marble rolling pin.

French bread.

My home made meatballs:

 

1 lb lean ground beef/or other

1 cup diced yellow onion

1 cup rolled/pounded soda crackers

1/4 tsp thyme

1/2 tsp dry sweet basil

1/2 tsp sea salt

dash of black pepper

1/4 cup beef broth

 

Roll into balls. Bring a skillet to 360-380 degrees, pour approx 3 TBLS olive oil(EVOO) into skillet. Cook for 20 minutes covered, turning every so often. Serve with red marinara sauce.

A simple snap while playing in the yard. SOOC

From Anatoli Souvlaki in North Vancouver , greek meatballs and diced potatoes in a zesty tomato sauce topped with cheese and baked , served with Greek Salad

I made some meatballs today, lovely snack!

Makes enough for two hungry people for a full meal with a side, or enough for 3 people in a broth, or enough for 4 people as a part of a main.

 

500g minced pork

3 slices pancetta

3 medium red/green/mixed fresh chillis

2 stalks lemongrass

3 shallots

3 cloves garlic

Small bunch of fresh coriander

1 lemon

 

1) Put the minced pork into a huge bowl for mixing. The huger the better, but it should fit in the fridge.

 

2) Wash the coriander really very well. Chop it all very finely and discard the stems.

 

3) Chop everything else except as finely as possible and add it to the minced pork. Leave the seeds in the chillies unless you are a real pansy. Squeeze half a lemon over the whole lot.

 

4) Mix it with your hands.

 

5) Cover with cling film and leave in the fridge for an hour. Warning: it will give-off toxic (but pleasing) fumes.

 

6) Fashion meatballs according to your whim. Prepare them onto a large chopping board. Large ones are more fun, small ones are easier to control*. Optimum size is approximately a large egg. Optimum shape is to flatten the sphere slightly to allow for nice golden crisp on the outside.

 

7) When done, lower them into a large heavy based frying pan of hot oil. Don't crowd the pan, do them in batches.

 

Great served with bread and chilli dipping sauce.
