I suck at 365 ideas, hence the thumbs down. Today I woke up, with the vauge reminder that I had a chemistry regents in a few hours. I got out of bed and found my mom ready to go to the store. Then we rushed. We went to the bank, then the store to buy a calculator for the regents, then I got a McGriddle and large McDonald's Sweet Tea and studied. 10:15 strolls along and I got ready for school. Getting to school at 11:45 I studied and gave up, socialized then walked to the god-forsaken testing room. I found the test fair, some portions i knew like the back of my hand, others i was clueless. I met up with Martyna in the cafateria afterwards, went to Dunkin Donuts, and then attempted to go to Bayside High to visit some friends, by the time I got to the stop to transfer, they were gone. So I went home, suffering from exhaustion. I watched tv, ate dinner, and took this lame photo. I have a slight liking towards it, but its faint. Tomorrow Sarah and I are going to Queens Center. I'm going to pick something up for a friend, and hey maybe even buy something for me :]

soooo good. sooo soooo soooo good. they should bring this to the philippines. i'm still dreaming about it until now.
I was hoping to take him to breakfast in March for our two year "anniversary", but it hadn't worked out. I've seen him a few times since, always stopping to say hi or to buy him a sandwich. Today, I was hoping to see him again and grab that "2 year" photo.
As I was leaving the train toward the spot he's usually at, there was Robert on his way into Union Station. I asked him if he wanted to sit down and have a McGriddle to which he readily agreed. I picked up the sandwich at McDonalds and Robert led me to the Great Hall where we sat on a bench and talked.
Since first encountering Robert 2 years ago and seeing him often since, I wondered about his day to day life. So I began to ask. What's the shelter like? How much does it cost you to stay there? Are there meals provided? How much money do you typically take in daily? Through these questions, I learned a little more about the person.
Robert usually hangs out in a couple of locations, but oftentimes others take those spots when he's not there. When he shows up, they go elsewhere. "I'm not trying to make a lot of money like those other guys looking for drug money. I'm just trying to get enough money for food. I'm not a greedy guy." Robert says he collects about $20-$25 a day and hopes that at the end of the week he has enough to get through the weekend. Robert said that if he's not out on Monday mornings, it's usually because someone was very generous on a Friday afternoon. Otherwise the weekends can be difficult. The shelter serves meals "…if you can call them that. For me, it's just a snack <grin>." Truly a day to day, hand to mouth existence.
Sometimes people will give him food. That's always better In the winter since the cold weather will prevent any leftover food from spoiling. Robert says he's perfectly happy when someone gives him a McDonald's gift card…to him it's as good as cash. He has no other income and as such lives at the shelter rent-free. They are helping him apply for SSI and disability from his old injury.
I asked Robert if I could take a few pictures. In return, he asked if I would make copies for him. "Absolutely", I told him. "I'm traveling this week so I'll bring them next Monday morning…if you're out here." I snapped a few shots and gave Robert the change from the sawbuck. He thanked me profusely as I headed out toward the office.

Of all the pictures I've ever posted to the old photolog on my website, I recently learned that this is the most popular. It's turned up on about a dozen message boards and it sucks up an intriguing amount of bandwidth. (It is the best image on a Google Images search for "mcgriddle," if you don't count the picture of the fat kid that tends to accompany this one on all those messageboard posts). I don't have the heart to do an image-blocking widget on my site, but it'd be great it people linked to this image on Flickr now instead of from my server. Not very likely though.
I continue to believe that McGriddles are horribly gross, by the way. Give me a sausage-egg-and-cheese biscuit or McMuffin any day. In fact, I had a McMuffin this morning and I don't regret a morsel of it. It was positively succulent. But keep your rubbery, syrup-soaked quasi-flapjacks away from my saturated fats, thank you very much.
Sausage McMuffin with or without egg, Egg McMuffin, Chicken Biscuit, Sausage Biscuit, egg and cheese with sausage on bagel or biscuit, McGriddle sandwiches, Ronald O's cereal with milk, Ronald Flakes cereal milk. This is used in the episodes of Corduroy The Bear I will write and produce at Nelvana.

The above has a sausage patty, two burger patties, two slices of cheese, and bacon; one half of the bun is a McGriddle bun, the other half, a hamburger bun top. (I already ate the egg and the other McGriddle bun half.)

this is james, and me of course, anyways, we went and did this at like 6 in the morning. i have no clue why. but it ended up being a good idea, because i got a sausage mcgriddle from mcdonalds. oh how it stole my heart. anyhow, i've got about and hr and a half until duty at molly's burgers calls. time to hear something nice.
