2-photo stitched panorama – manual focus legacy lens: Kiron 105mm 1:2.8 Macro

I discovered my lens was broken when I arrived at this greenhouse – it's stuck wide open at f/2.8. So, I decided to make the most of it and shoot some bokeh panoramas. I think they came out looking very cinematic.

I've been so focused on video lately that I haven't processed any of the photos I've taken while I was in my blind waiting for Whistling ducks to jump.

This photo is a good example of a situation where manual focus shines. There would have been no way to get this with AF with the bird's eye moving behind the new cypress leaves, but with manual focus it was easy to follow him and take the photo right when his eye was clear of the greenery.

not part of my 365 but i found this sitting in my iphoto from yesterday and thought it was pretty. i love the bokeh. not super typical or anything. i'm creative. no biggie. just messing with manual focus, which i have fallen in love with. everyone: i suggest playing with your manual! it's so much fun. yay for eminem lyrics! i love this song. it's such a good one. one of my faves that he is featured in.

Busker - Banjo Andy (Manual focus lens)

Presented at the North American Native Dancers demonstration in New Port Richey Florida, this guy was very good at what he does. Here are a few of his many facial expressions. Taken with a Pentax-M 135mm 3.5 @ 5.6 manual focus.

Street portrait - Shaun. I've known Shaun for quite a while now and in that time he's had a few ups and downs. He's recently returned to Calgary having been living on the streets in Vancouver.

Despite living on the streets he's clean of drugs and intends to stay off them as local support services are trying to get him into housing. Being free of any drug addictions is one of the requirements of the services helping him.

After chatting with him and grabbing his portrait (I have a few of him over the years) I dropped into the local Tim Hortons and got him a bite to eat and a large coffee as well as a few other goodies.

3 more shots with the 200mm manual focus lens to show it wasn't a fluke , shot no.4 shows up its superiority over a A/F lens in that its not affected by the background . so far quite pleased with the results

Downtown drug problems (manual focus lens)

Camera manually focused to about 10', flash on manual set to give a good exposure at around 10', "a shot in the dark (twilight)" as they flew by. Most of the 20 frames I shot were just black or hopeless blurs. Got lucky with this one.

XR Rikenon 135mm f2.8 (Matt's), XR Rikenon 28mm f2.8 (Matt's) with Cokin A filter holder and hood, Pentax *istDS with SMC-M 50mm f1.7 (Matt's) with Cokin filter holder and two hoods, SMC-A 70-210mm f4 (Matt's), Coffee, SMC-M 200mm f4, SMC-M 100mm f4 macro, and finally a Phoenix / Samyang 500mm f8 mirror lens (Sold). Since this picture was taken I have traded away all but the genuine Pentax lenses shown here.

Shot using a Pentax *istDL with 18-55mm kit lens. Due to three different light sources I took two shots at different WB settings and then combined them for something close to the correct colours.
