Wheeler Bank Building (1889)
Manitou Springs has been attracting visitors since the 1880's. Sandwiched between Pikes Peak and the Garden of the Gods, there are also numerous mineral springs scattered around town.
Not taken by me...C. went up the incline and took this pic. You can see how steep it is as it gets higher, and by how people are having to climb it.
Miramont Castle was built in 1896 by Jean Baptiste Francolon, a Catholic Priest. In 1904 the Sisters of Mercy turned the castle into a sanitarium. It was later converted into apartments, and is currently a museum operated by the Manitou Springs Historical Society.
